$1800 is quite the budget for a guitar...especially from parents. you have a ton of options man. personally, i'd recommend a Creston if you wanna go all custom. i think his prices are around there. but those Nelson's sure are sexy

the more I look at these pictures the more they're pulling me in
I went to a shop today and got a quote from the owner of $1600 flat for an AVRI jazzmaster but I think this might be a better route... I'm just such a stickler about playing something before I buy it... does anyone own one of these beautiful Creston creations?
*EDIT: I could just use the search function

they're gorgeous man. i've looked through the gallery so many times that it hurts that i can't afford one. as far as a custom build goes, they're very reasonable

Just an update, went to Gruhn Guitars in Nashville today. Lot's of really neat stuff but there were only like, 5 amps in the place (none of which were plugged in). I couldn't REALLY try out any electrics. Played some really nice Martins though.

Martin's are nice, but I'd take my Taylor over a Martin anyday....I don't play it as much as I'd like, but it was my high school graduation present and I adore it

it may just be a sentimental thing, but I wouldn't trade my dad's D-28 for any other guitar ever. I love it

I spent most of my formative years in Nazareth, PA, home of Martin guitars so they hold a dear place in my heart.

But get your hands on some electrics man! I want to see what sweet piece of axe you finally end up with.

Played A LOT of stuff today. I realized that i don't really like rics after playing a few 330/60/25's. Something just not right :idk: I loved every jazzmaster I played. The scale on the jaguars didn't bother me until a stood up and played them. Most surprising though was that i really loved the country gentleman I played. It felt fantastic :)*

Allllllllllllllright, last update. I emailed Creston about a guitar (pretty much a jazzmaster w/ lollars, mastery, fiesta red and matching headstock) and he said it'd be around $2400. I was sad  BUT, one day maybe maybe maybe I'll have enough scratch to do whatever I want and he'll be my guy. SO, I'm pretty much set on the AVRI Jazzmaster, just a matter of deciding color. THUH END.

Yeah, you know who owns a Creston?

momofuku, that's who.

He's only posted here a few times. I believe he signed up just to refute my assertion that he has $30,000 worth of gear.

You should PM him.

(EDIT: Whoops, just finished reading the thread. Sorry the Creston's out of your price range. Oh, well.)
