I think some of you guys would really like this fuzz.

It's very amazing. I don't think the Gearmanndude demo really does it justice.

It's actually a pretty versatile fuzz. With the filter rolled all the way off it's a surprisingly modern (for a circuit designed in the '70s) sounding toothy/buzzy fuzz. The filter, however, is the best part of the circuit. It can take you from a cocked wah type of sound to sputtery and gated sounding. I can't stop playing it.

I love it so much, I've got a Death Ray Frequency Mangler on the way. More IdiotBox crazy sounds in the future fo' me.

I just got my Blasteroid from Atarimatt at Idiotboxeffects.com today. Crazy cool fuzz. And none of the video demos really do it justice. Especially germandudes. And I'm glad to find a forum where FuzzGirl isn't the shit. But I am really starting to love this pedal.

It took some doing as this is a very tricky pedal. I was somewhat let down at first, the sounds were weak and not anything I could imagine myself using. I think a lot of the initial disappointment had to do with the fact that I've been dreaming of owning/playing an ESR Graphic Fuzz and a Vorg Warp Sound for over a decade. So all expectations were based years of imagining how it would sound which had nothing to do with reality.

However, after a lot of tweaking, intuitively at first, then just randomly after no good results this people started to open up. I was learning how to control it, to get the sounds I wanted. I spent a good three hours tweaking a pedal with two ****ing knobs!

You just can't approach this pedal like other fuzzes. That ****ing filter just ****s all reason up. And, your guitars settings wildly affect the how the pedal sounds. From bridge to neck is night and day. It is very interactive. Roll back on the volume and you get a completely different effect.

Such a simple circuit, but such a complex control. This thing is very cool, to those who stick with it.

it's totally worth it, $119 shipped for a handmade custom clone of a nigh impossible to purchase vintage pedal that is notorious for not working...

Yeah, Gearmanndude's demo's totally lame. Either he wasn't into the pedal, didn't know what to do with it or both.

Nice descriptive review, boleiro.

Also, you don't have to censor yourself if you don't wanna. You can swear or curse or whatever.

Also, your post reads a bit like SPAM.

LUV me some idiotbox. Death Ray is killer...not something you think would be useful in a real world setting, but it really surprised me.

Blasteroid is next on my list.

Yeah, behndy, I think because you like the Death Ray, you'll like the Blasteroid too. Definitely an interesting circuit.

As boleiro said, "your guitars settings wildly affect how the pedal sounds" and pickups do too. I've tried it with a bunch of guitars and the pedal's response varies greatly.

Yeah, excane, your demos're great. I think you'll do a spectacular one for the Blasteroid. (Maybe with some Starlight flanger?)

I just ran my cheapie Epiphone SG full scale bass thru this into a B-25B at a medium-to-low volume and it takes on a whole new life beyond the guitars I've previously tried to use with it. Neck pickup, tone rolled up or off by itself or with the bridge, is awesome and rich. The bridge pickup by itself sounds a world away from that in an also-nice way. Thing overall has a super cool "voice", with a husky artifact removed a bit from the character of the Brassmaster-y clones I've played. kudos-bump, Idiotbox!
