Just came up with an even better solution. Buy these in whatever color you prefer:

Wrap them in some old wire for added support/stability, and viola instant ledacle chain. Just weave them around your patch cables and position the lights near the knobs. I would suggest that glow-wire stuff but I think the wierd transformer in them would create interference.
