Oh yea, & Jon Karel is the shit.

& I'm fucking pissed his Vic Firth Drum Clinic isn't on youtube anymore, but it's incredible & I found it on some random site.
He puts a hi-hat on his snare and plays around with it's positioning. So sweet.

but hey, being in a shitty band doesn't make you a shitty drummer.
Even if they did kill an entire genre.
Meh, I like rush. And you can't really criticise a band for ruining a genre, because all they did was play some music, which doesn't change what anyone else is doing.
Anyway
Dave Grohl
Brant Bjork
Kumiko Takahashi (formerly of Chatmonchy)
Ralph Molina
Topper Headon
EDIT: Also Stewart Copeland, guy has a cool style, even though the police only had like 4 decent songs.

Sol Amarfio & Lasisi Amao (Osibisa)
Butch Trucks & Jai Johanny Johanson (Allman Brothers Band)
Mitch Mitchell & Buddy Miles (Hendrix)
Brant Bjork (Kyuss & his solo work)
Ginger Baker (Cream)
Chris Haikus (Om/Sleep/Sabians)
Danny Carey (Tool)
And if we're shining light on all the dirty skeletons out of our closets here...
I've always liked Tre Cool's skinsmanship. That motherfucker has always played exactly the right thing in exactly the right place.
Best live drummer I've ever seen, though, is a tie between Terry Bozzio, Chad Wackerman, Dale Crover, and Danny Carey. I saw Bozzio & Wackerman play The Black Page, which was ridiculous. I've seen Danny tear shit up with Tool a few times and always leave me with a "how on earth" appreciation of his skill, but I think out of all the peeps I've ever seen hit anything no one does drumming better than Dale Crover. I've never seen anyone so conscious of the beats that he doesn't hit. It's fucking incredible. Words fail me. He's so conscious of space and time that it's humbling.

I concur Tre Cool,...
Probably underrated is Abe Cunningham from Deftones.

I don't have a ton of Deftone's albums, but his drumming on Diamond Eyes is really really really good.

Aww, can't believe I forgot Greg Saunier from Deerhoof. Dude is crazy, he can get more out of a 3 piece kit than most people could with terry bozzio's ridiculous kit.

The most awesome drummer I ever saw live was Charlie Ondras of the Unsane.
Just give a listen to the self titled LP and the singles collection, fucking monster.
He had a cinder block in his bass drum and still had to position it after each song.
Sadly he died a couple months after I saw them.
RIP Charlie.

Good call.
Also, Tony Allen rules.
