HONDO 4 LYFE SON

Also add to that list Greco...there are a lot more though. There are lotsa lawsuit-era Ric copies, and many of those only match up visually (bolt-on necks, etc)
They're hard to find on eBay because the Rickenbacker police take down ads that offer the copies. Maybe you could try Craigslist, sometimes they're on Talkbass too. Or just get lucky at a yard sale.

Expensive though :erm:
At that point it might be better to just save up a bit more for a used Ric....

Here a used Ric usually goes for two times that price. But this is in the old world.

unlike Gibson and Fender, Rickenbacker was comprehensive in copyrighting their designs and was and is extremely aggressive in enforcing their copyrights; anyone who produces or tries to sell a product in the US which copies any Rickenbacker design gets sued/injuncted immediately.

I'm voting Squier again, they treat me so good even when I had a job which meant I could afford to replace my Squiers with Fenders I didn't (I spent that money on pedals instead, and now have a job that pays so little I'd have hocked those Fender's by now anyway :)
