I vote laundromat.

Why did he lock the door? To keep bands from leaving? To keep the audience(who presumably had already paid) from leaving? Sounds like mondo fire hazard all around.

Aside from the locked doors aspect, ILFest '11 was held in an art gallery's backroom actually, so there's quite a few people on here who could share that experience.

The doors were locked so it wont get it shut down by cops, being an illegal venue with cheap ($1) cans of beer and tons of drug use.

That would have to be either: in the back of a tattoo shop in Rocky Mount VA, a condemned warehouse that had been turned into an improvised skatepark in Southern Pines, NC, on top of a mountain above Mountain Lake outside of Blacksburg, VA at an event called the White Trash Luau, the basement of one of the biggest Ecstasy dealing houses in VA, or at an NC State Women's Rugby Team Jello wrestling party at The Brewery in Raleigh....

I'm sure I could think of more but these come to mind first.

my first gig was a post masters convention. 1977
band name: the armpits
they pulled the plug during the second song: "let's play death".
my rig was a 65 strat, distortion +, sunn beta lead into a sunn 4/10.
you'd think we had killed a puppy by the looks of terror on their faces.
it was awesome.
100% true story.
