Live, they were a mind-melter. Top 5 performances I've ever witnessed, and fucking yes about Jim White. I could watch the guy drum for hours and never get bored. I also wouldn't doubt Warren Ellis being a George Michael fan.
And very very yes. That whole album pulls you down to a very dark place. I saw them perform it with Nick Cave on piano, and it was really something that I can't ever begin to describe.
'ocean songs' is my favourite album of all time. I sleep to it
every night and listen to it at least once a day. It is,
to me, the best music commited to tape.
NO joke. Best show I've ever seen.
Warren Ellis, Jim White, Mick Turner. They can do what they want.
I WILL ADORE IT.EDIT: Undeserved, nothing I will do in my life will compare to Warren Ellis' fluffed notes. I will advise our fans to listen to better music than us.

Love The Mamas & The Papas......funny how a lot of the older pop rock was waaaaaay depressing yet sounded so shiny and ethereal on the surface. Like some old Beach Boys or Fleetwood Mac or The Zombies.
How about some My Dying Bride, Crowbar, Electric Wizard, Type O Negative or Unearthly Trance? Those are some of my favorite heavy depressing artists.....

That whole unplugged segment is seriously depressing. Incredible record/performance, but one of the saddest (as in
sad) I've ever seen.
I saw them live a year or two ago with the new dude, and
that was really fucking freaky.
