have you tried an Earth ride? it really is a niche sound that isn't too versatile. it is all ping, which is fine if that is what you are looking for, but you aren't going to get any crash or dark wash out of it. That said, it is still fun and can be had very cheaply, just want you to make sure you'd be happy with a limited application ride cymbal like that. I've got a 22" k medium dark ride (the cyndy blackman model) that is nice and dark, and hitting near the bell can get a decent ping although not very dry, but it just has such a nice dark crash that I love its versatility.

I've got a sweet Zildjian K 22" pre-aged dry light ride I'm selling on the cheap.

I saw this picture of Hendrix, all he used was a wah.... And not even the Jim Dunlop Jimi Hedrix wah, just some old thing.....

Just bought a Zildjian Earth Ride. We'll see how that goes. Should be a big improvement over the Wuhan Medium Ride I've got now.

I'm thinking it might be nice to pair this with one of those Zildjian Breakbeat Rides with the Earth on the right and the Breakbeat on the left.

I really like the rock solidity of the Earth Ride.....now to pair it with the ideal second ride - a washy, crashable ride. My set-up is only going to consist of the earth ride, the washier lighter ride, and the Dream Energy 14" hats that I got on ebay for $116. They should arrive today via UPS.
These are the cymbals I am most considering:
Meinl Sand Ride 20"....touted as having a strong bell and very crashable.....seeing a bunch of these as new (other) on e-bay for $255 shipped.
Zildjian Sweet Ride ....suppopsed to be based on the old 60's Zildjian A Rides.....washy, crashable....seeing some used at about $190 shipped.
Dream Contact 20".....Seeing them new on e-bay for $199 shipped.....supposed to be a lot like 60's Zildjian A rides. Really curious as to how one of these stacks up against the Sweet Ride.
Right now these are leading and my ability to find one in really nice condition cheap is probably going to determine the winner.....unless something else takes my attention.
