I like clean blends and usually like the non-100% sound of fuzzes more. DEAL WITH IT

Methinks you just need a better fuzz tone.

Aw dayum!
Truth be told I have sort of been in a slump lately without my Big Spider. I need a job first before I can buy another to replace it though
I could have someone just build the Ibanez Standard Fuzz from the schematic but yes, I am willing to pay extra for the ULTRA badass enclosure!

Isn't it an Ace Tone?

Tangent: When did everyone get all hot and bothered by Verellen? They're starting to replace Emperor as the go-to cabs for loud music.

They're making cabs now? I thought they stopped. Or Monolith is doing it.

^This. I love running a low gain fuzz tone into a pedal with a clean blend.
Also, don't forget that not all clean blends are created equally.

But all clean blends suck.
My logic is flawless.
Anyway, I just know I was surprised at the Torche/Big Biz/Helms Alee gig. Lots of Verellen (cabs and heads), no Orange, only one Emperor stack. Made me feel old.

Either Ace Tone FM-2 or Ibanez Standard Fuzz. I don't know for sure, maybe both are the same, but whatever -- it sounds really similar to those.
Still GASing for that Monolith 415. It'll happen someday. I'm kinda wanting to try out something other than my Hartke 410, even though:
1)I'm not in a band and don't truly need even a 410 much less a fucking 415
2)I'm horrible at saving money these days
Given #2 it's probably going to be all-or-nothing on this 415; I'm either going to blow the money on other stuff or I'm going to save up forever and buy one.

I understand that other people love clean blend. I just think it sounds awful with my rig, and the way I have my bass eq'd. I have a pretty clanky, mid/high-middy bass tone. And when you add that to fuzz, it sounds like stir-fried dogshit. I could see it sounding fine if you have a thumpy tone and you're using flats or something.

I have a "big round and dark" -type of tone. My soul just doesn't dig much past 11:00 on the tone knob of a big muff, so clean blend is fucking useless to me.
As is note definition.

I forgot about this, I gotta agree with you there. I don't deliberately try to restrict myself to one general sound, but I guess my settings usually yield a tone that is low/low-mid heavy. So maybe that's why I dig the clean blend.
Actually the only clean blend I have right now is on the TAFM. And that's not even clean-clean.
Anyway, J bridge pickups into fuzz kinda turns me off for the style that I usually play. It has its uses but it isn't low enough for me.
I don't even know why I typed that up, it's not coherent in the least. I had a concept in mind but it just fell through. Ignore this post.

guessing it probably has something to do with Ben Verellen being in Helms Alee?
(don't mean to sound like a smartarse by the way, just figuring that if there's a dude in that sort of network of bands building amps people would probably be interested in it).

Ah whoa fuck! Didn't know that. I thought he is/was in Botch(?)
Either way, I hope his gear is better than his music.
