Most guitarists just
think they can play bass. It isn't just a 4 string guitar though. It takes practice and effort to learn just like anything else.

Bwahahahaha!
Im doing more bass than guitar in the Raygun at the moment, and I will testify that I have to improve EVERY ASPECT of my musicianship to play the bass as well as I want to. The dynamic range is incredible, the degree of control needed to play the bass well is staggering. We're recording now, and I'm sure Ill be doing a hundred takes of every passage just to nail that tricky ass instrument.
Or I'll just use fuzz. Then Ill sound cool regardless.

I'd demand a co-writing credit on Mondo Generator.

Let's just compare Kyuss and QOTSA's stuff after Oliveri to Mondo Generator...or how the one time I tried to see Mondo Generator, Oliveri cancelled.
F'real, Oliveri needs help and also isn't all that great of a bass player. Kyuss became Kyuss on Sky Valley, and QOTSA was always really just Josh Homme.
Well, then again, let's not discredit Troy. Poor guy never gets enough credit for his contribution to that band. Also, where does this leave Kyuss Lives, the saddest excuse of a cash cow ever.

I'm sorry, but Blues is just kinda...eh.I mean, compared to other music, it's fucking marvelous. But, it has none of the groove that their later work has. And, Nick Oliveri had been kicked out of the band by the time it was released. Seriously, first gig Scott Reeder played with Kyuss was their release show for that album.
I counter with:

I like the three songs that Kyuss put on that split MUCH more than Blues for the Red Sun. And yes, I know one is a cover.

Look at the writing credits for these tunes sometime. You'd be surprised how many good songs other dudes in the band wrote. Brant wrote Whitewater (possibly my favorite kyuss song ever) and Green Machine. At least half of Songs for the Deaf is made up of other people's tunes. A lot of it is pillaged from the Desert Sessions.
And, IIRC, Oliveri left to join the Dwarves. I don't think he was kicked out.
On the other hand, if you leave Kyuss for the Dwarves... maybe you do need a stint in rehab.

Who is seriously defending this shit sack?
Roman Polanski directed a decent movie or two but he also raped a 13 year old girl. It doesnt make his movies worse but that's no reason to defend the guy. Sometimes creative people are also bad people.
