Sure, I'll chime. For yer most basic choices:
1. Thick fuzz: Big Muff Pi NYC
2. Distortion: Rat
3. Overdrive: Rat
4. Phase: Small Stone
I've had a Phase 90 and Phase 100, and while the 100 is more tamable, they are just too harsh for me. The Small Stone is creamier... more organic, and won't overdrive your clean tone when you don't want it to. The Phase 90 is like a phaser and an overdrive in one, and that annoys me. I have a bigger box Small Stone currently, but I did own an Nano for a bit, and that is a FINE pedal. The two do sound different, with the biggisher box Small Stone sounding, ugh, "darker" (not a fan of using that word to describe tones), but creamier than the Nano.
