Out on the west coast we have more people that can fix them because they were made out here... We have Dale who runs Old School Amps out here in Oly http://www.oldschoolamps.com/aboutus.html he did a great job on my 67 200s when the caps blew up, one thing he did was put a fix that regulated input voltage to make the amp more stable.

Yea, I never have had issues with finding someone who can fix the tube ones.

But the SS stuff, when Fender and the surviving Sunn original employees didn't have the schems for most of the SS stuff twenty years ago, I don't hold out much hope now.

So glad you're posting here. I wanted to talk to you about this amp but I've abandoned posting in the GAS thread.

That thing looks so sick! From what rfurtkamp posted about SUNN though, if it breaks, you might be fucked (let's not think that though) per lack of people that can repair SUNNS. At least you got it for an appropriate price. I am happy for you!

How do you plan to use it? You don't play super loud/in live setting (I don't even mean shows per say, I was under the impression you sort of directly plug in to the interface? Could be wrong).

I want to know everything that you do with this...plugging your modular into it?

I have my Model T pedal coming (soon? At some point? Whenever?) and I'm very stoked to plug in.
Should be here Friday.

I do both. At every opportunity, I play loud loops/modular stuff directly into amps and then play drums--jam with myself. I can do this with headphones, but it's less satisfying and more logistically complex. This means I could do a lot with that approach. But yeah for recording I generally play direct. Basically this gives me a ton of flexibility and routing options I don't have with a little tube combo. Would be nice to have the option to have an amp that can keep up with drums, too, when folks come by (happens every so often).

Why'd you give up on the GAS thread? Because it's insane and frustrating?

Asa far as repairs: yeah, it's risky. I have no answer for that.

Sounds awesome!

Regardless of what I think of that thread, it's not the place to ask about a specific piece of gear that I have a lot of interest in (I.e. This amp lol). I did think this was the coolest find in the last...however many pages though. That...and I know you are actually going to use this

One thing I will say is that I use the shit out of everything I own...I don't have all that much gear.

I'm guilty of acquiring expensive paper weights. Not the point  As said, looks awesome and looking forward to what you do with it!

I can't see the image. But I will pretend to. Has anything happened? Should I make another thread?

Hahahahahaha

I haven't even powered it up yet. I need a cab, and it's currently under a tarp while I put up insulation in the studio. Delayed gratification...it is enormous and rad (looking, anyway), and now I'm contemplating making a bizarre cab for it.

I have a line on 4 local 15"s. Was thinking of two towers, each with 2 15"s and a 12" or two maybe just one cab with 2x15"s and 2x12"s.

You're making me reconsider selling my Sunn columns. Just sold the amp I was using so that means...
