You could always propose, although I am guessing that there won't be a positive or healthy resolution for anyone.
The other interesting issue is that nobody likes the same kind of reasoning because it is pointed at them.
Example:
You don't support the war = you hate the troops
we all hate this type of logic but we seem to have no problem using it when someone doesn't share are opinion.
Personally, Come to New York and get married: Right now they are saying it should start around July 1st: I would recommend coming upstate, the lines should be shorter.
Also: Agree with dubkitty that the american Family is more trashed by the amount of broken homes and "serial fathers" (love that btw) than by New York approving a bill for Gay Marriage,
It seems to me that instead of having some young, rushing into this because of our parents are pushing us to get married kids tying the knot and then getting divorced and restarting the cycle what is going to happen is that some couples that have endured the test of time and the scrutiny of the outside world will finally be able to make something official that already existed in their homes.

My whole gripe with gay marriage has nothing to do with homosexuality and everything to do with the fact that it's a wedge issue designed to keep us bickering with one another and divided.
Who people choose to fuck and marry is none of my fucking business. People get wound up over other people's sexuality and what they choose to do with their lives really need to re-examine their priorities here. There are way more pressing issues in this country then same sex marriage.

^But that's why it's a big deal. A group of people are being denied basic rights and equality based essentially on religion, bigotry, and ignorance. There's no decent legal argument against it, and it's still a big issue.

I absolutely agree with you and I have no problem with homosexuals getting married.....grant these folks the rights they deserve by virtue of being human and let's move the fuck on and focus on issues that actually have an impact on our society. Same Sex Marriage only becomes a "real" issue when election campaigns start up. Wedge issues only solidify political bases. Republicans can get their constituents behind them by effectively saying "You hate fags?, me too, I was against that Same Sex Marriage bill....vote for me". Dems and Libs can say,...."We voted to approve same sex marriage; see we're progressive". Do you think these "leaders" actually give a fuck. The only thing they care about is re-election. What they really need to do is stop trying to legislate morality and go back to what they are good at. Ripping us off.

I agree, though the same can be said about basically any issue. Election season is just when the politicians are being extra obnoxious.
You basically have to convince the politicians of what they have to do to get reelected. Now that more than half the country is down with gay marriage, they'll be more likely to vote for pro-LGBT legislation. Sure, it's for the wrong reasons, but positive action even for the wrong reasons is still positive.
Of course, I'm in Tennessee, so I don't know what I'm happy about.

I think this is really cool and hope it sticks. My sister and her life partner got married back when Oregon "legalized it" and then they overturned it making their and a lot of people's marriages invalid. So again I hope it sticks.
