Wouldn't that just be a D maj then? You have the 1, 3, and 5 there.
D E
F# G
A B C#

Mi Composé (D is tuned an octave up)
ostrich tuning (all strings tuned to D)
Trying to get into a Soukous band?

Nope, it is the notes fo an E maj. chord but down a whole step, the notes ina D maj. chord are different. Bu I understand where you are coming from. I could also play the song I need that guitar for in DADGBE.

Well I tried it originally for some more Soukous style playing, but it really brightens up chords nicely so it's great for some twee-style playing.

bubstance wrote:Yes, the notes in a D chord are different that an E chord... and when you transpose an E major chord down a whole step you have a D major chord. Do you actually know how chord theory works?
Aparently not, that part of music theory is where I stopped, for better or for worse. Call it what you will, it is what it is.

Yeah, if you look at a D major chord, the notes in it are D, A and F#

I need to try this. I'm really liking having the same notes or octaves right next to each other. Especially on the lower three strings.

It's great! My band used to do this until we shifted everything down a step.
