Nicholas! It is so good to see you back in here. I'd love to see Catalinbread have a subforum here one day. The company's aesthetics/mentality would fit in nicely in this community, and there are plenty of people here with Cbread on their boards. Either way, it's just good to have you back. Hope you plan on sticking around for a while.

fishballs wrote:Ahoy folks. I am Nicholas. Folks seem to have less info than they need to to form an opinion of myself or my company. To clarify the so called flameout...

I never accused anybody of copying us. As a matter of fact I came in here last time just to counter the accusation that my company's "fanbois" accuse somebody of copying us. Fact is we don't have minions or put anybody up to saying stuff like this. There was more to it beyond this that seems to be forgotten. It isn't all that cool for another company to use "catalinbread" as a search term at Amazon.com or Google... I mean I guess folks can do that but what does that gain for them really? As far as I am concerned it is water under the bridge.

And I didn't flame out. I was IP banned. For what reason I never could figure out. But I guess that too is water under the bridge since I am here and have always thought I <3 Fuzz is a cool community.

Ad hominems like "dick" or "tinfoil" or "prick". C'mon folks we all can do better than this! Anybody who wants to know the sort of person that I am or the sort of company I run are free to email me! nicholas@catalinbread.com or give me a call 503-407-5712. Knowing for a fact sure beats assumption and projection of character which is far to easy to do on the internets... I've done it too in the past and try to not do it.

This doesn't clarify anything... if you want to clarify all this then let's actually tell the tale.

Nicholas and certain of his friends/employees have been mad at me since we launched our business in 2006. They decided the Tremolessence was a copy of their Semaphore and started a fight with my buddy Sam on HCFX right from the get-go, plus making bullshit comments about it ever since whenever they get the chance even though I've posted gut shots through the years showing there was no copying and I was working on the Tremolessence before the Semaphore was even released in 2005. (Sam isn't and was never a Dr. S employee, he's my best friend who sets up our computer stuff since I'm stupid at it. He owns an Oodle Noodle restaurant, has never built a guitar pedal, and didn't deserve the hostile treatment he received from the Catalinbread crew.)

I made a comment awhile ago in my forum about the Tremolessence/Semaphore situation and how his cronies have historically taken every opportunity to run my pedal down or say it's a copy and that's what Nicholas is referring to. I still feel it was true but it just doesn't matter, the two pedals are hugely far removed now so it's a total non-issue plus it wasn't an issue to begin with anyway, except to certain mouth pieces. I'd be fine with never mentioning it again as it just doesn't matter and for the record I don't think it's come up at all in way over a year so I have no grudges about it.

The other issue that is still bothering Nicholas and he likes to use it against me, is when Sam put 'Catalinbread' as a search term in our Google Adwords following that HCFX incident in 2006. He did it as a FUCK YOU to Catalinbread, only it wasn't supposed to stay there.. it stayed there for 3ish years though. Nicholas informed me of it in 2009(?) and I immediately took it down and apologized to him and told Sam it was a big mistake to have left it there for so long.

Nicholas likes to imply that we're a successful business now because of using his business name as a search, that's what he's driving at there. Or that we're so aggressive and cut-throat that we'll do anything to get ahead in the pedal world. (*Gob voice* 2 stoners in pajamas, c'mon!) It didn't gain us anything other than a laugh and we're not a successful business because of your name in the search terms. That is such a dumb thought and I've explained this situation to you verbatim but you still come around saying stuff like that.

The most annoying thing about all this is that I don't hate Nicholas or his business, I frequently agree with his posts around the internet and tried hard to reconcile this the last time he was around. (My last pm wasn't even replied to, maybe because he got banned, but it was read at least)

You still look like you're trying to stir up shit but whatever, I'm not embarrassed about the events and NOW it's clarified.

PS - Welcome again to ILF, you're definitely welcome here and I'd be happy to consider our grudge officially over.

PPS - I had nothing to do with your ban, I can't clarify anything about that. I would never have wanted that and I'm fine with discussing this pointless crap in front of the world.

Huh?
What's your deal man?
:idk:
No need to be mean to Ryan.
If there's anyone I've met on the internet who I think is a nice dude it's him!
Check out his subforum, he seriously knows everyone's names.

Are you going to do anything than stir up shit and bad mouth Ryan? (Who is, I'll add, probably the nicest guy on the internet!)
What's your deal man?
Why are you doing this?

I am bad mouthing, Ryan? Re-read the thread, man. Folks seem to think the argument between us a year or two ago was without merit and well there was merit to it. I simply filled in the backstory. Which of course Ryan can do and has since done.

It has nothing to do with how nice the guy is. Granted many previous posts had no problems NOT granting me the same consideration.
