There's no effect I really dislike. They're all fun to play around with, but I do hate a lot of the applications chorus was put to in the 80s. But I still have fun with it.

And just for good measure, I LOVE FLANGER.

Compressors are the key to huge rockin FUZZ madness... I use two and I sound massive on two 60's 10" tube amps... I plug straight into a Black Finger then into a 2ube before I even hit a pedal... Tubes offer natural compression and I think that with the heavy tonez you're after you would need a compressor... :idk:

I really don't find any use for them... each time I tried one I though it screw my tone. :idk:
I think Diamond have the best compressor pedal... but not for me.

I don't really hate any effects... but some are not for me.

I'm not really after heavy tone ?

Flange can definitely be misused and cheesy - though it's always awesome as used by Ween. Would love to own a Foxrox TZF, but they're too rich for my blood. I bought my first couple flangers of late, had never owned one in all my years of pedal whoredom. Found a MIJ Boss BF-2B Bass Flanger for cheap on evilBay, the one in the brown box. It's great for adding bass-friendly wobble at faster speed settings.

The only effect I'm really opposed to is the use of always-on compression in the bass world - I see a lot of people do this. Why?

Can you explain the theory behind this? I like the slight compression effect that some overdrives offer, and compression on guitar can be great when going for chimey or twangy sounds - but how do they lend themselves to fuzz? Too much compression robs dynamics by definition, and I love me some dynamics.

+1 for the Zapp and Roger love.

I almost always dislike wah, with the occasional exception. And let's be honest, the Klon Centuar can kiss my dick. :idk:

Chorus needs to be taken out back and beaten to death with the wet ends of its own limbs.
It's like a hot tub time machine ... and I didn't like the 80s the first time around. We got Reagan and AIDS and chorus on everything.

I guess the only effect I really don't like is wah, and even then that's just because I suck with it.
It can be used well (Terry Kath is a good example) I just hate the sound when I use it.
Anyone else like that with anything?

I think anything can sound good when dialed in right.
That being said, I haven't liked any use of the "airplane" flange that I've heard.

Fuzz is pretty lame.
