I forgot Mates of State. They're awesome! Not sure how they play live, but on their albums it's mostly drums and a bunch of layered keys/synths.

Actually, Big Black was a 3-piece + drum machine... 2 guitarists and a bass player. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Black

Still, they probably could have done it as a 2-piece...

Huh, not sure why I thought otherwise. :idk: Still, you could run a drum machine through a bunch of effects or something crazy like that.

Looping or loud should do the trick.

Looping is for self-centered pussies. Go with loud.

A band that I went to go see in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan all through highschool:
Image
The Muldoons (not to be confused with the omg-we're-kids-and-signed-a-record-deal-because-mommy-and-daddy-are-rich-know-Jack-White band that's on Last.fm under the same name.)

They disbanded and have practically no presence online. Previews of some good songs on CDBaby. Songs were really well written compared to all the DETH METAL going on in the Upper Peninsula at the time. Check out Randall, Bill and Bones and The Sycamore Bees on that CDBaby page.

Use your feet for percussion, and play kazoo or something with your mouth when you're not singing. That's how these guys did it.

Definitely an awesome live show.

Run octave into Fuzz:
Alternate tunins especially with drone strings work well also:

Plus running multiple amps, preferrably old amps that you got for free and hopefully fitted with cheap subwoofers from walmart.

Also: One 2 Man not metnioned above Victor Victor from the Philly Area, now broken up, but they were awesome, I found a few of their press kits in my basement a few months back, if anyone wants one throw me a PM and we can work something out, think it has CD and Stickers or something.
