Oxbow - Down a Stair Backwards

Sleater-Kinney - Let's call it love

Xiu Xiu - I Luv the Valley OH!

Boris - Just Abondened Myself

Do Make Say Think - Reitschedule

Le Tigre - the the empty

The the empty is awesome enough to put Le Tigre in my favourite band list eventhough half their albums aren't that worthwhile.

Tool - Pushit
Danzig - Cantspeak
Enslaved - Større enn Tid - Tyngre enn Natt
Agalloch - In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion
King Crimson - Larks' Tongues in Aspic Pt. 1
Swans - The Sound of Freedom
Kyuss - El Rodeo
Spiritu - Latitude
Electric Wizard - I, the Witchfinder
Neurosis - Falling Unknown

I could come up with a lot more, but that's a good list that gives me an erection.

Ay ay on the Prince, but especially your inclusion of "Cadillac" by T. Rex. I don't know WHAT it is, but I looooooooooooooooove the "riff" of this song. It's just D, with a little added thing, but I don't know... the rhythm, the fuzz, the hotness... The greatest one chord riff ever.

The Church for integrity and amazing songs.
Spiritualized for sonic architecture within simplicity.
The Who for being the best rock and roll group EVER.

The Beatles and Hendrix each have their own chapter in my book. Then there's the post punk chapter (Joy Division, Simple Minds, Cure, Magazine) and the everything else chapter (Neil Young, REM, Replacements, MBV, .........)

Jeff Buckley - Grace

Hands down. Always.

After that it might be Dinosaur Jr, Pink Floyd, and Radiohead lately.

you're totally right with mechanical birds. and is further proof that the best electric guitar sounds don't sound like guitar

anyways:

Bill Evans Trio - Alice In Wonderland
tightest trio to ever grace the planet, and this track is summed up in two words: flawless interplay.

Frank Zappa - 9 types of industrial pollution
this kind of genre hopping influenced my guitar style FOREVER

Guided By Voices -
fuck, they have like... two albums worth of favorite-song quality songs.

The Mountain Goats - The Best Ever Death Metal Band Out of Denton
WHEN YOU PUNISH A PERSON FOR DREAMING HIS DREAM, DON'T EXPECT THEM TO THANK OR FORGIVE YOU
