DOOD! We should be BFF based on taste alone, man. I love the electric Miles stuff. I did some improv free-jazz recordings the other day that I'll have to post after they're mixed.

MAGMA!

Leo Brouwer can get pretty intense

I bought a silent guitar so I could practice this stuff at home without driving the wife crazy -- she hates all the dissonance.

How about John Zorn w/ Marc Ribot?

Toru Takemitsu?

I love Gingerbread Man. So good. Since jazz has been coming up a lot, I got another one I just recently discovered...the most intense is halfway through, and I know nobody is going to listen to this, but if you do good for you. This song was written by Mingus a long time ago and he tried to do a rehearsal of the song live that was supposed to be a sit in recording for the audience, however, the promoter didn't advertise such and it didn't work out and he embarrassed himself and never came back to it. It was eventually rediscovered after his death when they were cataloging his music. The piece is over two hours entitled "Epitaph", but here's a ten minute segment that kills it.
