I see. So I could have the damn thing shipped to me and at least try it out and then bring it into the Guitar Center two towns over and get a refund if it's a dud? I'm assuming they won't order stuff into the store unless I pay for it first. That would be a lot better than having to ship it back to wherever else I got it from.

p.s. Psyre... thanks for the sexy tips, but the original is long gone since February 4th. I understand where you're coming from, but personally I can't tolerate a blemished "brand new" guitar, especially for one large.

Yep, just check GC's site and make sure they have the model you want in stock. Take that info into GC and have them order for you, online, and they'll give you the option of having it sent directly to your residence. Shipping should be free since it's over $100. If you aren't satisfied, you can just return it to the store, as opposed to shipping it back to the warehouse. Also, pay in cash, if possible, and you should get a discount, maybe 15% off or so.
I recently ordered a Mustang Special and received it in 2 days using this method, as opposed to the 5 month wait time Fender quoted for a standard GC special order.

Yeah, the model I want is in stock on their website. Their policy states that I can order it and have it delivered to my house and then return it to any Guitar Center for a full refund. Or are you saying I should do it your way because there is some kind of better deal or something?

Only reason to order instore would be to attempt discount negotiations. If your happy with online pricing, just order away and return instore if necessary, hopefully not.

Fuck it... what have I got to lose. Either I get a great guitar or I return it and try again. Buying it online would already save me $60 in taxes, so I'm kinda getting a discount anyway! Not much of a haggler. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for the tips!
