I'm way excited about the 919, but alas i hate the brittleness of the repeats. Sure they're clear but it's so bright it's harsh. So if the 919 uses the same circuit as the 616, i probably won't like it. :idk:

Have you heard the 919 or are you referring to the repeats of the 616? I hope this is resolved with the 919 as well, not a fan a bright/harsh delay either. My hopes rest on the fact that they used NOS BBDs in the 919 plus the Malekko quote "Largest dynamic range possible from a BBD Delay using -15V BBD ICs."

Those two together should equal a great sounding delay and with tone control it could be dialed in bright, dark, or anywhere between, I hope....

Malekko is one of the nicest dudes in the biz in my experience :idk:

As for the 616...I can't help but feel somehow there are still 1st run 616's floating around that were pawned off instead of being sent for repair?
It's a great sounding delay, the only ones I've heard described as brittle had the manufacturing error from the first batch.

+1 and +1. Josh has been super nice and extremely helpful every time I've called. He's even gone into great detail over the phone to describe his pedals along with giving some back story to their design and his work with Paul Barker, whom I love. Great guy all around!

And the 616 I played was used at a local guitar store very early on, so there's a good chance it was a first batch and never sent in for the repair/mods. Malekko was a real class act during that fiasco as well, apologizing and offering free repair on every pedal sold. What else can a guy do? I saw so many posts where people were really getting ahead of themselves denouncing Malekko and spewing some real hate and disrespect their way. Ridiculous... shit happens and as long as it's fixed, who cares?

Malekko rules. Anyone who disagrees is wrong.

Josh goes well beyond the call of duty when it comes to customer service.

Care to elaborate on your problems with Malekko? I'm curious as I've only ever heard positives about them before. And I should add that my only experience with Malekko was trying out a 616 in a store once (liked it well enough, but it certainly didn't blow me away).

You guys should have these conversations via PM and not on a public forum. Josh is an upstanding dude, and univalve, if you wanna bad mouth Malekko w/e, it's a public forum, but some people on this forum consider Josh a friend (not me personally), or a great company and would really appreciate the harsh words kept to a minimum.

Josh was super super cool to me. In fact, because of Josh's kindness and down-to-earthness, I now am not afraid to email or call a company and talk to them.

I actually still have to send back my Chicklet for a repair. I think Malekko's footswitches are a tad dodgy. I've seen two other guys with the same problem I have. I love Malekko.

It's a few months off, like it was a few months ago. Give it a few more months, then it will probably only be a few more months. God damn the 919!
