No strats for me, I mostly play a Jaguar with somewhat ballsy Novak pickups.
It's not a fendery kind of clean so I don't know how a Tube Screamer would work out. The mids might get kind of gross. It's clean all the way up but it's definitely got its own flavor. Clean but not without character. Just to dance about architecture for a moment: I feel like it's kind of round and cool sounding; where Fenders are light and airy, it's moist and dense.

Is it still even available new anymore? Jet City seems to have shut down their web store for customized amps.

I don't think so. But I shot Verellen an email. Maybe I can buy a head, and then he/someone can mod it. Fingers crossed.

For those interested, I got in touch with Verellen and he said he'd do it. So, I bought a Jet City JCA2024HS and it's being shipped to his workshop and then hopefully I'll come pick it up (I live about 15 miles from his shop) in the near future!

That's awesome! Good to hear he's still doing these heads, I love mine. The only thing it lacks is really deep low end, but thats more in the amp design and running el84's then anything else.

Hovercraft amps are generally modded Jet City amps, and are pretty affordable. And loud as shit.

From what I can make out he's used the Jet City 20h, Peavey Windsor and Epiphone So Cal amps as the starting point or shell of his amps. Still really interested to see some gut shots of them to see whether they're primarily just modded or completely gutted. Still have a hankerin' for one and have done for months. The new mini-Sunns look fun too!

I must say that i'm quite intrigued by the PicoValve, which looks like the poor boy's UniValve and is thus a Good Thing. i also really like the Hovercraft 20W head. it seems like i'm more into EL84s than 6L6s and other big octal tubes nowadays, though i've always wanted to try the 6550s or whatever it is they used in Ampeg SVTs.
