To piss off my guitarist.
I usually try not to play too loud our practice space is small ind if we get too loud it all turns into mush. My guitarist has volume issues and is always trying to turn up so my 300 watts is to keep him in check.

I dont get how people say they dont need need all the watts they can get. Although this is coming from a guy who gets his shows ended abruptly when despite the sound guys warnings turns his amp to ten 5 seconds into the set. Fuck not wanting to play as loudly as possible. Thats why i wanted to start playing guitar when i was a kid....to be loud and piss my parents off.

playing in a loud band is fucking awesome!
playing pummeling loud is even fucking better!

last show I played we got shut down by the cops for being too loud
the one before that, the sound guy measured our dB 1meter from the stage 115!
turning down is never going to be an option.

hey, recently i tried to pull out two EL84 out of my amp to be able to crank it up a bit more... before last rehearsal i gladly put them back on... the key word for me was HEADROOM, cause it sounded like shit on 15W with the volume on half... 30W with volume on four = much better

so those hi-wattage amps? prolly for teh headr00mz

Man, I hate headroom. Even on solid state amps. I want that shit to strain when it gets loud. Make it dirty. Make it NASTY.

1/4 watt = NO headroom and even less volume. but its so cute getting powertube on 10 grind when its still really quiet

Yeah I'm currently shopping for a 15 watt guitar head to play bass through.

I figure it's going to be pretty awesome.
