I agree with every thing almost.

Live on the bs&t forum, Craig’s list etc.
A good amp is a must. Save your money and keep looking. Your clean sound is the most important thing. If your clean doesn’t sound good no amount of effects, preamps or EQs will fix it.
Peavey amps can be found very cheaply and seem to last forever.
The TNT combos sound very good, are ‘80s technology so are inexpensive and have enough volume to drive your parents up the wall.

Dirt pedals are the hardest to choose. They are a mater of personal taste.
I personally don’t recommend The Rat or Big muff, Rats loose a bit of the low end, and the mid scoop of the Muff can make it disappear in the mix or come out as mud.

The KP and Dark Boost, any thing Fuzzhugger are killer with bass.

Delay, chorus etc… again look used, also the Moen and Biyang Baby Boom series pedals are inexpensive, work very well with bass.

Then search and listen to every sound sample you can find.
