PC Steam users - anyone else having problems getting Steam to launch in the past few days? They rolled out the Linux version and that same day my Steam went all wobbly on me, saying that it needs to update but is offline and to check connections; trying to take it online crashes it.

 I was making my way through the bedrooms in Anor Londo and there is a painting of some broad and that message was on the floor. I totally thought of this thread teehee.

I must have been indicted by someone. Because right as I made it to that bonfire in the middle of the level, I was immediately invaded by a blue phantom. I summoned a guy that was close to the fire after the invasion, but I was not fast enough in messaging him that there was an invader and he was quickly dispatched. Fuckin' sucked! Lost 15 humanity trying to make my back to the bloodstain. Got murdered by those fucking douchebag silver knights with the giant bows on the outside of the building. Fuuuuuuuuuu

So I made my way back to the forest and rejoined the cat covenant and invaded the fuck outta a bunch of people. Tons of gankers in that area. Got a few of them, though. :animal:

Mine has been 'updating' every time I load it, but it does eventually launch alright.

I've been able to get it to launch by going into the Steam folder and using the SteamTmp launcher, which seems to bypass whatever is bugging mine up (and the copy on my MacBook launches fine). Gonna watch the Steam forums for updates and junk, I guess.

Russians take their plane games VERY SERIOUSLY.

We were flyin' around, he did the "I need backup!" voice command thingy, I did "No!" just to mess with him, and he called me a dumb cunt :(
Turns out the dude really did report him, and now he's on the forums begging for his 7-day ban to be lifted, LEL.
Always incorporate "bro" into your writing when you get someone mad, it really helps. I also like the "calm down, it's just a game" route.

War Thunder. It's like World of Tanks, but...with planes, and without the part where it sucks. Supposedly they're adding naval and land battles, as well as entire campaigns in the future. There are modes that make it super realistic but I've only tried the "arcade" style, which doesn't become Ace Combat unrealistic, but I also don't feel like I have to don a leather cap and goggles before playing.
There are a million options for configuring a joystick, and in my opinion it is more fun to fly with one, but use the mouse aim setup and you'll be murdering fools in no time.

The beginner planes kinda blow, apart from the Soviet biplanes which come with basically the World War 2 equivalent of miniguns. They're slower than almost everything else, but that just means they turn incredibly well, and it's hilarious to watch a few of them swarm and obliterate a P-51 or something. You can't out-turn them, you have to speed out of range and kill them joust-style or dive on 'em. If they get behind you you're dead, but even then it's funny because you just got killed by something that sounds like an RC car.
Once you get out of beginner land it gets fun. If you don't like dogfighting, you can sit in your bomber and kill ground targets, which are the primary objectives of most rounds anyway. You choose a nation and go down its tech tree to amass different planes. Good times.

My friends and I tend to play on the Russian servers because they're more chaotic; for some reason, maybe leftovers of old military doctrine, it seems like Russian players are way more reckless than people on the EU servers. Some French or British dude might sit back, wait, and kill you with a super-high-altitude dive before running away again, but it's like any Russian will literally follow you into the ground if it counts as a kill. You can make them run into mountains and trees all the time. They'll kamikaze you if they fail to kill you in a head-on attack. They don't give a shit, they'll chase you right into storms of flak. The high-level Russian players who have jets ALWAYS fucking run into something, and the repair costs at the end of the round are so high that even though they killed a quarter of your team, they still lose money in the end. It's great.

I've done that a few times in the past with either Morrowind or Fallout 3.
