chadbrooks, you're gonna have to tell us more about these homemade effects..

Everything but the Disaster Transport, Boss Chorus and Danelctro Reel Echo I built. The shake is a dual rate tremolo with a switchable effect off, but still using the preamp from the pedal. It is a hot-rodded EA trem. The Swirl is a heavily overbuilt BYOC phase 90 kit, with a few switchable values and some extra controls for feedback.

I generally build because I am cheap and broke, it was the best way to start getting serious tone. The rest of the stuff on the board is just garden variety fuzz/dirt boxes that most DIY'rs build.

Oh boooooyyyyy that's all I need. Tom's Algal Bloom has totally simplified everything. I had three different fuzzes plus the Hi-Five on that board, all for like "Ok here is this solo, and now here is this verse, and then this for the chorus." Not with the Algal Bloom. It covers everything I want at all times. I LOVE IT.

2. For my psychpop band Starling Electric:



The three fuzzes on this board are my three favourites that I have found within the last year (besides the Algal Bloom): Catalinbread Merkin, Devi US, and Fuzzhugger AB-Synth 5k w/Voice Toggle. For overdrive, the Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop is THE BEST overdrive I've ever played, and the Sag knob can take it into fuzzy overdrive territory.

And ye, my pedal quest is complete.

PS doing +/- an octave, GK square wave with a 1-1-2-2 pattern. El Cap doing the 1/8 note trip single repeat for some groove, stock drum loop for context. Much more of the synth arpeggiator type sound on this one.

It's such an interesting effect going on, but I'm looking forward to see if you can pull of the MotP effect.
I believe he still uses a Nord G2 Engine to make the arpeggiated effect for the song (the guitar should be in drop C) but I reckon you could pull it off with this. 2 Pitch shifters (or 1 with Midi control) are necessary though, unless it can bend to the 5th and then the octave above with the push of a button. If you have a Whammy, I know using http://www.moltenvoltage.com/molten_midi_2.html programmed with the sequence can do it.

Edit: Also, all of the pedal boards here are giving me some serious GAS. I've got a Proteus and perhaps a Dwarfcraft Device on its way, but it's still up in the air. I'll post my board once I clear my camera's memory out.

That is indeed a Snowdrift, not on the board. I haven't had it long enough to decide if I want to keep it or set it free. If I keep it, I'm not sure where it goes in the chain.

The Grail's alright. Having different settings footswitchable is a good mod.

I have no use for anything that is not balanced.

Disheveled boards do look interesting, but when you're playing shows in which you must get vocals and guitar chords/notes and pedals all right at the same time, order is much better for your feet if you want them to make those choices mechanically. I need to get to the point at which I am not choosing which pedals I step on; my feet do it automatically because they know exactly where to go by themselves.

All of me becomes part of the song.
