I love going through the giveaway thread and becoming righteously indignant at all the people who sign up just for it.

IIRC there was a giveaway when I'd just joined that I didn't enter for that reason. On the other hand it says - Sign up and enter! - right on the FH site, so..

I do this also when people sign up to sell things. Then I realize I did basically the exact same thing and feel like a horrible person.

I prefer those cheap Roadrunner pedalboards to actual pedalboards. I don't know why. I just like them.

When that guy started talking, I thought wow, he sounds exactly like Jello Biafra. Then I realised he'd just said "What Would Jello Do?"

"That was a good one!"

I'm starting to think more and more that anarchists are just selfish dicks (as opposed to thinking of it as a hunch). Blind sabotage like most of the things he described isn't going to harm the corporations at all, it's going to give the people who work there for minimum wage a shitty day and make them appear inefficient. It's not going to help whatever "cause" you're trying to advance; It's only going to give you a smug sense of satisfaction making you just as (if not more) greedy and self-centered than the fat cats you detest.

If you want to play pranks for your own pleasure for the sake of messing with people, that's great, that's what pranks are supposed to be. If you think you're achieving something grand by simply causing unfocused chaos, you're a narrow-minded dick. As usual, I criticize, not because I think what they are trying to do is worthless, but because I see much more effective ways of going about creating social change.

I pretty much wrote this post in preparation for a paper I'll have to write soon for a class on contemporary political theory.

back in the 1990s they had one of the periodic Anniversary of the Summer of Love free concert/celebration/jerk-off festies in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco (of which they had two or three in that era) which i attended...this was a particularly large one featuring a number of old-school musical acts such as Gary Duncan's rump version of Quicksilver, Country Joe McDonald, etc. and speaking spots by Mayor Willie Brown, Michael McClure, Stephen Gaskin, and other surviving Haight Street figures. latterly Jello Biafra was introduced; a friend of mine wondered audibly what the fuck Jello was doing at a Summer of Love event, to which i of course replied:

"THERE'S ALWAYS ROOM FOR JELLO!" :poke:

I've started drinking tea in an effort to relax at night so as to avoid sleeping pill dependency. I've been enjoying some weird-ass variety pack of assorted herbal teas. I feel like significantly less of a manly man now.
