D.o.S, if you've used a Pharaoh or LSTR, it's basically the same thing. It works in really similar ways. In other words, fucking crank that shit in any way you want and it'll blast your balls off. Though you may need those for future tiny Matt's. I quite like the top left knob all the way counter-clockwise, the top right knob fully clockwise, the top switch to the heavier setting, the gain just below noon, the voicing switch at whatever is the loudest (far right, I think) and the volume knob at wherever is just past unity for my amp. This is a gnarly overdriven fuzz sound that's thick and steak-like.

Falls of Rauros tonight, too. Gonna get my black metal on.

Anyway! I bought Dan's Badascan, and it sounds rad, but what are the controls? I assume one of the toggles is for diodes -- sounds like LED and silcon and No Diodes, to me. Just like the Grey Stache, and the other one sounds like, uh, a gain toggle? The bottom two knobs are clearly volume and gain, but the top two sound like a tone and a mids? Any way, clarification would be helpful there.

Sonically I like it a lot. Definitely sounds better the louder you can play, which seems to be a BAT signature -- it's certainly the case with the Ritual. If I can hunt down a decent way to record I'll do a doom muff bass shootout.

top left is a tone and top right is high. basically a tone control and a knob that lets you dial highs back in if you want to set the tone for thundering lows. very interesting eq and awesome once you get the hang of it. the diodes selector is usually as skip said, but mine and a few others came wired differently. i think mine is si, no diodes, LED, if i remember right. so you have to use your ears on that.

also, i just got back from a week in mexico and i'm about caught up on here.

kiss sucks.

ozzy and dio both rule. skip said it best. i like both of their solo stuff as well. some of it's corny, but that doesn't make it not awesome. everything in context and it was the 80's.

kiss sucks.

i kind of think game of thrones sucks too, but that hasn't stopped me from reading all the books and watching all the shows so far. what the fuck is wrong with george r.r. martin? he's never going to finish that shit, making the fourth and most of the fifth book an even bigger waste of my precious time than they would have been if he would actually fucking finish the series. those first few books were so engaging, then he just meandered off on a thousand limp dick tangents that he'll never be able to tie together. no one has ever needed a strong handed editor more. 2500 or so pages in those last two books of which maybe 300 are relevant.

and mexico rules.

Book four I powered through for the sake of completion, but yeah it's literally pointless. If he actually gets past book seven I'll be incredibly surprised.

But Mexico does sound like my kind of place. Cheap beer, cheap drugs and cheap hookers :yay:

I really think I need one of these fuckers. My hi/low switch on my Pharaoh got broken in what I'm sure was an unreported toddler related incident, so the thought crossed my mind to see if Mark can sprinkle some magic dust in that motherfucker and make me a BADASCAN with GE instead of LED...

I feel the same way about book 4 and 5. I will say that book 5 was infinitely better than 4. I thought it sucked at first, but a ton of good stuff happens...unfortunately it's all building up to big events that we didn't get to see.

What's worse is how goddamn long the next book is going to be and now he says that he's going to need a fucking 8th book to finish it up.

Where did you go in Mexico?

Yeah, the 300 relevant pages I'm referring to are definitely all in book 5. 4 was totally worthless. 5 started off worthless, but did eventually get good. But as you said, all leading to nowhere. There's no way that obese old fuck is going to live long enough to finish it. He's about three more cheeseburgers away from a coronary as it is.

Spoiler alert! I don't know how to do the hidden thing on my phone, but if you haven't read all the books, don't read my next paragraph if you care.

And I'm just so sick of the fake cliff hanger deaths and shit. Tyrion is killed in battle! Then a couple of chapters later he's alive. Brianne, or whatever her name is gets hung! Everything goes black! Then after a few chapters or in the next book she's actually alive. Arya gets blinded! Never mind, she gets her sight back. Catlynn is so unjustly murdered! Wait! She is still unjustly murdered but now she's a hateful zombie witch. I can't even remember how many times he's beat that cheap trick into the ground. And possibly the only thing he does that's more irritating, is actually unceremoniously killing off characters that he's spent all his literary clout making you care for. So at the end of book 5 I was just exasperated. I don't care which category this one falls into, I'm fucking sick of both. Either way is a manipulative way to get me to read the next one. You know what you could really do to keep me interested? Start bringing it fucking home. Make it seem like all this is going somewhere. Cause right now I don't think he could wrap it up in 20 books, which he apparently isn't going to write anyway. How many years has it been since the last one? Ugh. So annoying. I honestly just think he bit off more than he could chew. I think he, and everyone else, thought he was a better writer than he actually is. Those first three books were awesome, but now he's lost in the woods with no clue how to get out and too much ego to get the editing he needs. I think what really happened here is that he took on Tolkien and ended up face down on the mat. Now he'll just cash his check and let the tv writers clean up his mess.

Anyway, I was in a small town in southern Baja in a tent on the beach for 6 nights and in stupid cabo for one night. It was awesome. So much amazing Mexican food. And good times in or near the ocean. Plus one good desert hike.

IDGAF I love Kiss. I fucking love KISS and nothing anyone can say will make me stop loving them.

I've been stupid busy with our new album(which is soooo close to finished....WHY CAN'T IT JUST BE FINISHED), new press photos, and booking shows. I will have shirts and stuff mailed out to everyone who bought one before week's end and I apologize for delays.

Also, we're still unloading them for $5 + shipping if anyone else wants one.

Ok...back to work.

Jimi Hendrix is why I play. Also, is at fault for my need to have a trem on every fucking thing, regardless if I actually use it or not.

With our buds in Mos Generator!

Rush haters. For me, this one brings the heavy. Side A, side B is a stoned jumble of whatever. I like stuff that tells a story. the bit where the guitar is discovered and fucked with is cool to me. They must have been on some excellent drugs during that period.

Mexico sounds awesome right about now. Having a bit of a rough patch with the wife. Calgon, take me away!

I might be able to attend this https://www.creativelive.com/courses/gu ... -verellen#

Any one can watch it live and if you pay, you can view on demand i guess? Audience will get a copy of the broadcast and that sounds tittys to me.
Daz, you going?

Sounds a little corny to me, but I definitely wouldn't rather be listening to Phish. Rush has this melodiousness and precision that appeals to me, but on this one, his voice hasn't even mellowed into vintage Geddy Lee. The thing that always surprises me about Rush, is that, unlike Phish, it's actually focused enough to listen to. But don't trust me, I'm a fat guy with an 18-watt amp!
