Thanks man,...she's a sweetheart for sure. Sounds great with a new set of strings and a little TLC.

BTW,...this is my Xmas present from my awesome wife.

Doing some research; you may be right. As I only used it as a cleaning agent,...and it is a pure cold pressed therapeutic grade oil form Young Living (for whom my wife is a distributor),...and I used it sparingly,...I think I should be in the clear, but I'll keep an eye on it.

http://www.youngliving.com/essential-oils/Lemon

Pure lemon oil (or other citrus oils) is composed of d-limonene at an amount of 90% or more. There are other minor components that give each of the citrus oils its own unique flavors and fragrances. These ingredients include citral, linalool, geraniol, nerol, citronella, pinenes and other terpenes.

Since d-limonene is the majority of lemon oil (or orange oil), we can look at its properties to determine why it is not suited for fretboard care. First, and most importantly, d-limonene is a very strong solvent. It is used to remove glue, paint, grease, oil and other substances. If an oil with a high percentage of d-limonene were applied to a fretboard, it might even begin to loosen the bindings, fret markers or other trim. Additionally, it could soften some varnishes or lacquers used on necks and bodies. Also the vapors of d-limonene are flammable with a flash point of about 124 degrees F.

I think a lot of that concern comes with Nitro finished instruments while the fingerboard and neck seem on the 72RI seems to have a coat of poly on it. The bare necks and FB's you find on MIM Standards may be more susceptible to lemon oil,...but to be safe,....I'll discontinue using it.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

There was about 5 years worth of shit built up on the fingerboard so with the strings off; I took some lemon oil and a Q-tip and got the frets all cleaned up the buffed the neck with a clean bar towel. This gave the fingerboard finish a nice patina as it was grey and dull before,...it is now nice and shiny. Oiled and buffed up the body as well. Lemon oil is a great cleaner,...it's pretty light and gives the wood grain some pop through the poly coat.

You're right about the switch on these guitars... pretty junky, but the first thing I did when I got mine was this :

I hate cup plate input jacks! They always loosen up on me. This is the first mod I make on all guitars with similar stock input jacks.

Also, fuck yeah Flyers.

Go Flyers!!

(funny,...I cross posted with TDPRI and some guy from MA gave me some gentle non offensive jabs about my Flyers pillow)

That's a good idea on jack plate. I notice while I was polishing up the PG (which looks a little better) with a Baking Soda Coconut oil paste mixture,...that the cup plate was trying to not be a part of the body no more. I tried to bang that jank back in with a rubber mallet but nothing doing.

Any tutorials on the mod? What sort of material did you use for the plate? Is it a piece that you can order that will match the contour of the lower bout?

I, too, did that jack mod with my tele. I just ordered a Les Paul jack plate and it worked fine.

outstanding stuff, warwick.hoy!

I just got a black Telecaster Deluxe myself, and now I'm thinking I may have to add a walnut one to the quiver as well.
If you replace the pots, consider a 500K volume pot on the neck, at least.
Lots of folks out there say that de-muds that pickup quite nicely.
I'm replacing pickups, pots, caps, the switch, jack, and tuners on mine.
Also, instead of an LP plate, buy a new Switchcraft jack and an electrosocket from AllParts.
dudes over @ tdpri swear by the electrosockets on all the Asian or Mexican teles.
Maybe partying will help.

Thanks man,...I've seen you over there whilst lurking around. TDPRI has been my go to for resources for the past couple of months,...although this is the first I'm seeing about electrosocket. That looks like a pretty elegant solution there,....maybe a little bit more than the LP jackplate. I've already got a shopping cart going over at Stew Mac and they have the electrosockets for a little less than $9,...so I'll just pop for one from Stew Mac.

I checked these out but got mixed responses to right angle cables, so I went with a LP plate.
