Well, he could probably use more but there are 4 in there (2 in the moddemix, 2 in the optomix)...
Good question, though, you (almost) all make me proud :).

Haha yeah I was thinking those two as my primary VCAs ( my 0-coast has its own too) so that gives me a few options. I figured using two voices through those & using the Frames as a kind of frequency frameshift I could make some awesome slowly evolving counterpoint type of stuff. I suppose I'd also want some kind of slow-moving LFO for that (Tides or that Sloth thing?) - anything else good for slow modulation that's not in-your-face?

Do y'all have any suggestions for intuitive sequencers besides the Brains/Pressure Points? I like how it's got 3 separate outputs and the direction/reset stuff you can do with the Brains, but the huge footprint has me wondering if something else wouldn't be better?

VCAs are overrated and a total non-starter.

Not as a tool as a conversation about skiffs.

Use the envelope on the 0 coast?

Peaks LFOs can go as slow as 30 minutes or so. can do 2 at a time, not to mention all the other crazy shit you can do with the DMC firmware. it's a powerhouse

I'm a maximum noob but I will chime in and say I was just doing this yesterday. Running the slope into the attenuverter gets some nice, mellow modulation if you turn the latter down low :zen:

I have the ability to swap my DPO and get a Mangrove, STO, and SQ-1 almost immediately. Trying to tell myself to be patient and try out the DPO with other planned modules before I definitely decide to move it, but it's so tempting

Patience prevails :zen:

I thought I had finally quelled my hunger for modular.

... Then I saw a demo for the Cloud Terrarium.

Fuck me and my wallet. :snax: :animal:

Oh yeah, I should chime in:

The FM bus and normalization on the DPO makes it very nice for FM. It still takes some finesse to get it tuned to your liking but it's quite intuitive. The other day I sequencing both oscillators using a slight amount of linear cross FM on each. Then I ran a rhythmic envelope into the expo FM of the lower pitched sound and controlled the amount on the fly with the onboard attenuator for a pitch-bend-ducking effect. Not sure I would have patched that way if it we're two separate oscillator modules.

So that's cool.

Why do you think I have had the cloud (planned) and the MT in my rack forever?

I should've trespassed into your gear cave when you lived in the states.

But yeah, the addition of the Cloud Terrarium has changed my plan of attack when it comes to modular. I originally was going to go for Karplus Strong sound sources and resonators to make slow morphing alien acoustic sounds, but why limit myself to just material noises? :animal:

Take a look at the voltage block. It's eight (!) 16 step sequencers in 20 HP, they can also slide from step to step and you can automate the recording, so you can record opening/closing VCA/filters etc if you want, as well as recording the sequence for your oscillators on the same module. All the sequencers share a global clock but can have different divisions etc.

Check this:

It starts a bit slow, but if you look at what he's doing it goes to show how simple this thing is for what it does. To me, for the money and HP, it easily beat out the Verbos sequencers as well as the intellijel one.
Wanted to chime in that the Voltage Block is A++ would fuck with again. So easy to get up and running. The randomize feature is amazing and always at hand. The arpeggio stuff BLOWS MY MIND every time I use it.

So far I use it mostly to modulate almost every parameter on an Akemie's Taiko. It is so fun and I still haven't even "scratched the surface."

lol. right? NINE HUNDRED WUBBLE SOURCES WOOOOOOO-shit i forgot to grab an osc.

i loooove the Volt Blucks. miss mine. just had WAY too good a trade pop up. will grab again soon.

torn if i want to get a Varigate to pair with it.
