Obulus wrote:This seems to have become a post your drones thread, so here it is. My band started a new side-project 3((0)),((0))((0))((0)) M((O))NKIES. Surprisingly, this is more drone/doom/ambient oriented. On this release it's just me and the other guitarist of the band. I played most of the guitars/bass, did all of the sporadic drums/percussion and vocals. Tracks 2 and 4 I did all by myself actually, those are the most ambient-ish things. It will be out on cassette on Tartarus, but in some way it's out already. You can read the story about that and stream the release through CVLT Nation:

Here's a pre-order link for the cassette too:

Lot's of great stuff in this thread by the way!
I really like that.

Thanks man! I should definitely look into recording more of my drone stuff. This 3((0)),((0))((0))((0)) thing should be becoming a series of regular releases, so I need to up my drone output!

coming late to this thread.
but over a year ago i tried to start a doom band...but we couldnt find a bassist and drummer...so my mate and I just started doing some riffs...and really enjoyed what we were doing...so we kept going...he then brought in a sine wave generator and hooked it up to some reverb/delay boxes getting some nice oscillating goodness...anyway...over the next 6 months we developed our own sound...Drone/Noise/Doom is what we call it...there's a lot of droning noises and weird harsh noises...but also some doomy riffs that repeat a lot.
I dont know where we fit in the spectrum of genre's and bands...but i can say there is a lot of enjoyment in playing riffs (which is mainly my part of it) and not caring about a drummer and timing...and playing with pure feel...and also not having structure and being able to change things based on how you feel that night.
we recroded our first album earlier this year and done a few gigs...its funny because we've had gigs with pure noise bands...and doom bands...so we we straddle this half way point which is cool.
on the gear side...we both have massive pedal boards...so we can make a lot of noise and weird guitar sounds...but also we run 2 amp heads with 2 4x12's each...there's only 2 of us, so we need to fill out the sound and frequencies.
we are now doing some work on the second album...and i'm actually looking to buy a synth, as we'll probably have a couple of songs with no riffs at all.
long story short...i love the freedom of what we are doing...and we can come up stuff so quickly and it sounds great, mainly because not much has already been done in the way we do it...so you kinda feel like an innovator...to some degree...

Sup guys!!! Been quite awhile!!! Glad to see the drone thread is still going. Had my first show a couple weeks ago and it went great! Different than what I expected cause it was pretty much the first time I really ran a wall of amps, normally used to my little briefcase o drone. So that changed a lot of things up but I was able to pull through, like anyone noticed anyway.
To stay more updated on my droning, give my facederp a like and follow me on the instagramz.

Hoping to actually record a track propely, instead of silly little phone recordings, I can release in the near future.

Been listening to a lot of Ember Wreath (he's on bandcamp)...good mix of lighter, reverb heavy washy stuff and heavy fuzzed out drone. He's also behind Electronic Audio Experiments pedals which seem cool but I haven't played one yet. He's also got a few collaboration releases which I'm a big fan of....too bad he's on the other side of the continent from me otherwise I'd hit him up about doing a collaboration.

He just started posting here, I think. Didn't realize he did this sort of music. Will check it out.

Ok...I tried to make this one more drone-esque than previous efforts but sometimes I just can't help turning knobs.
