Re: Let's see your BICYCLE!
I'm a fan of trailers. I use the trailer we have for our children for shopping and gear as well. No way I'm selling it when they've grown out of it! This one is pretty fancy but if you are just using it for cargo then there are lots of different cheaper options.Disarm D'arcy wrote:Finally got to make it work. I've been looking at cargo bikes too, mostly the bullit from Larry Vs Harry. Looks pretty rad and I'd love to ride that kind of mofo everywhere for groceries. Though I'm a little concerned with the price and having it stolen. Do you guys have experience with those?

Still loving this MOFO. I'd say I've put 7000-8000 kms on it.

Re: Let's see your BICYCLE!
Bike mechanic here - tires will run you about $20 each from an LBS, same with a saddle. Absolutely do not get one of those big fat saddles, get something with a streamlined shape and learn how it feels to sit on your sitbones, it takes some getting used to. My worst case scenario quote is $100 in service + parts, but that's at my shop. When you go into bigger cities with nicer shops (FWIW I work at a very reputable shop) they charge a lot more for labor. You can put however much you want into a bike like that, but those Deore thumb shifters last forever, and 7 speed parts are pretty cheap. I would only replace parts that need to be replaced and ride the shit out of it!Thylacine Dream wrote:No mechanic friends. So what would you say the bare minimum is, new saddle and tires? Or would I just have to take a shop's advisement on that?

Lots of people seem to like these: http://www.wiggle.com/charge-spoon-sadd ... omo-rails/
What kind of bike are you using?
If its road/commuter style, look at panaracer, kenda, or continental tires. Those are all pretty cheap and good quality.

Re: Let's see your BICYCLE!
Yeah, steel frame, CR-MO seat tube. It's holding out great. Except for brake pads and grease here and there, it's doing good and everything has been left stock. Great purchase, I never regretted it.

Anyone have any experience with State Bicylcles ?
The black label ticks all the boxes for me, but I've never ridden one and its online purchase only here in Sydney

The handlebars are a nightmare and the wheels are heavy as sin, but the bikes themselves are pretty nice.

Re: Let's see your BICYCLE!
thats what i've read as well...I'm not hugely concerned about wheels, i dont think...but i would immediately change the handlebars to bullhorns...ThurberMingus wrote:The handlebars are a nightmare and the wheels are heavy as sin, but the bikes themselves are pretty nice.
i would love a cinelli mash...but that is way to expensive for me...and this seems to have very similar geometry.

Re: Let's see your BICYCLE!
this has nothing to do with this thread...but i was reading a different bike forum and this cracked me up...
In response to Cinelli mash being value for money...some guy called "2011" posted this:
"they've are equally as light and stiff, yet have better geometry and more simple, classy look"
And this was the response he got:
There is so much grammatically wrong with this sentence I don't know where to start. You did go to college, right?

Re: Let's see your BICYCLE!
Ride bikes errday! Some nice wheels in this thread. This is my shit. I thought the girls version was sexier, and it rides like a cloud so I don't mind looking like a hipster. Eventually I might put a 29" wheel on the front and see what that does.
