it works very intermittently at best. Every once in a while you can get it to phase. I don't own any 12v d/c p/s - so i can't try that. danelectro, one spot, boss, nothing makes it work. 1700ma down to 500ma

what i don't get is - that it work flawlessly until the other day - then gave up the ghost - except the manual sweep - which is 1/2 the reason i own the thing.

frustrating.

This is the reason I traded my 2nd Faye. The power situation frustrated the crap out of me.

I emailed Ken. No response yet, but i'm sure he's a busy beaver.

I had a problem with mine when I had it for the brief period that I did. It worked the night before I shipped it, I shipped it out to the person I traded with, and it ended up DOA. Ken fixed it for them though. So there is faith!

huh. that's weird, on the Working Then Quitting thing. mine showed up with a single, simple solder missing. took about 12 seconds to do and i suck at soldering. Ken was a perfect gent about it, asked for pics, we figured out what it was, he apologized profusely and offered for me to send it back. i told him i was comfy with just doing it at my house if he was ok with that, it was SUPER quick, and it's been a rock solid beast since then.

it's not that it NEEDS 12v, it's that it seems to do better with lower mA if it is at 12v i think? it DOES draw a lot. and yeppers. i'd prefer a normal, pop it on any psu/daisy chain 9v bugger. but for it it's so worth making sure i have a higher volt or mA output. i love the thing soooooooo much.

The ONLY things I didn't enjoy about the Faye Sing and ultimately why I got rid of the sexy crome beast was the click when engaged, as well as being voiced a little throaty for my liking. Seriously an inspiring pedal though, hands down

yah, this baffles me....what very strange is that every great once in a while, it'll pickup and phase it's little box off....then, stick - stuck phase sound. Like i said, the EXP pedal works - so it's not like it's not turning on - just won't auto sweep. I must have tried 7 9V power supplies last night - nothing. New ones, old ones, big ones, small ones - all the same.

I,Galactus wrote:So what's the deal here? Anybody contact Ken @ Infanem with their power woes? His site doesn't mention 12V...

http://www.infanem.com/compact-faye-sing/ wrote:Connections/power:

◦All top-mounted jacks. Right to left: Input (YOU), output (AMP), power, and CV/EXP.
◦Standard Boss-style 2.1mm 9VDC input, negative tip. Current draw is approximately 200mA.
◦CV/Exp jack accepts either 0-5V CV signal or passive expression pedal. When using CV, a TRS (stereo) cable is best to prevent unnecessary current draw.

I've been gassing for a Faye Sing for a while and am sloooowly acquiring the necessary acquisition fundage. I was planning on powering it via my Korg Pitchblak daisy outlet. Will this not work? Do I need to invest in a 12V supply? I don't wanna... :(

Mine work great with a 9v supply. No problem at all. No need for 12v.

I gess the only thing to do is to wait for Ken to answer your email.

Sooo that 200 mA draw on the Infanem site is falsehood? :(

It's 200mA. That's why it is not working great with my PP2+.
So I'm using the Powerjack on this one.

I'm also in love with mine.

No, don't think so. mA should be 200 or higher.
The way you describe it, it is probably broken.

So this is too weird - as quick the problem surfaced - it went away. Literally worked fine yesterday evening when i went to play it - without doing anything!

Ken did give me a few tips, which I followed, i figured i'd post ém:

I hate to mention it but, when you plug the supply in, make sure that
it's fully inserted leaving 1/16" or less of the chromed barrel
showing on the plug. It seems unlikely that that's the issue after
you've been using the pedal for a while but pointing it out has solved
roughly 1/3 of user problems.

Also, have you had the back off recently? It's possible, when
reinstalling it, to put force on the jacks and cause the board to lean
inside the enclosure and short something out. That's the only other
problem I've encountered so, assuming you're plugging in properly and
haven't had the back off, it may be best to send the pedal in so I can
diagnose and fix whatever issue's occurring.
