Brent Hinds uses those bass Crybabies (at least, I've seen rig rundown vids where he did/does). Been wanting to try one out for a while.

Also, just replaced the cheap stock nut on my V with one of them fancy tusq nuts. Never done it before, so I took my time sanding it down to the right height -- damn thing took me an hour, but I've got it (basically) where it needs to be. Once the new bridge and tailpiece are in this week, gonna do final adjustments and drop a tiny bit of glue in there to make it final. Then onto rewiring the pickguard! Can't wait to show you dudes the completely refinished guitar -- it's gonna be a smoker!

I'm looking forward to that!

Also this bass wah news is relevant to my interests! I can dig some wah sounds but every time I hook one up, no matter the make, it's shrill as hell and I say "fuck a wah". This could be the answer.

Tony's definitely sounds pretty good. I think the bass heavy fuzz that he uses helps it not to be to shrilly, Shrilly is kinda the nature of the wah beast dependant on how you use it. Personally when I do mess with one, I try to keep it rocked bock and only use half the range of motion it has. seems like the ice pick lives on the fully forward position on most I've tried.
WHich is another nice thing with those. I've had a few that would turn on by stomping on it so you start out in shit territory, all the way forward. Those are turned on just by rocking them forward from the back position and start you out in the bassier range.

dude, your board is killer. for bass or guitar. i would rock that thing for sure; other than the fact that i'd be happy to hit myself in the face with a hammer to never hear a wah again with any instrument, but i know i'm kind of alone on that, otherwise, that shit looks rad. if you'd said that coffee had whiskey in it, i'd be on my way to tacoma right now to hang out, cause we'd be soul mates (as long as you were planning to throw the wah in the sound at some point). and by soul mates i mean starting a band or something cause i'm already happily married, except that we haven't actually gotten married yet, but you know what i mean.

A Doom Room Valentine

I have a Vox in which i reversed the function of the pot so that when it's switched on it's at the lowest pssible frequency. Moving the treadle at all seems to take to treble punishment zone. At least by my standards.

John are you saying this bass wah is simply a regular wah but reversed like mine? I got a little confused.

Nah, they just activate via a different mechanism. There's no switch to "click" on or off, once you push it far enough out of the heel position, the wah effect is engaged at the "standard" heel frequency, IE the "lowest possible frequency". They also have a spring or band system which forcibly returns the treadle to the heel/off position when you take your foot off. No cocked wah sounds unless you want to stand on it.

...leastways that's how my buddy's worked. :idk:

Reposting this here because I dunno if ryan summit looks at the other threads:

It's all improvised and we don't really know what we're doing...

no man...look at that...sloppy wiring!

so last night this arrived at my house...some of you have probably already seen it. But this thing sounds so badass its not funny. I got a good 2 hours with it today, and played it by itself and did the stereo set up with my marshall. They are very different beasts...the Matamp is brighter, but lacks no bottom end, the best way i can put it is that is just has all the frequencies...when you turn the bass up, it doesn't lose the highs etc. I'm probably not explaining it well, but when i play with the eq on the marshall, there comes a point where you start losing highs with the bass being turned up.

anyway...here are pics...

also...did a quick soundcloud track...with marshall and matamp...i toggle back and forth and then go stereo. The matamp is set to a bit of breakup and the marshall is clean...when you hear each amp by itself you can hear a bit of jangle in the matamp, and the darkness in the marshall...but together...oh my!!
