That DOES sound good, I'm a huge fan of ff9 and love cel shady graphics. Now I have 2 games to buy a ps3 for (mgs4 being the other), which unfortunately is still not enough to justify the price. Wish there were more jrpgs released on pc. Wish everything was released on pc actually, it's bullshit not being able to play something cool because you don't have the right proprietary hardware when they're all just computers anyway

You guys are my new best friends. Final Fantasy IX is definitely my favorite of the bunch! I generally can't do new jrpgs, but I love me some square enix classics. I have actually never finished FFIV or VI (which is shameful, I know). I'd really love to see a remake of some of them in hd sprites/cell shading.
I also love the shit out of the Metal Gear Solid series. I pretty much cut my teeth of Japanese games like FF, Chrono Trigger, and MGS so those absurd plots and borderline embarrassing humor is still right up my alley. I get into arguments with my brother in law all the time about MGS and FF - he just can't get on board with them AT ALL. Which is stupid.

FFIX was an outstanding "back to basics" redemption for the lofty ambition clusterfuck that was VIII.
VIII was cool to play through [once] as it was visually stunning, but I hated that annoying draw spell/link system, which was a horrible regression from the materia system of VII.
Cool concept but lackluster execution. Being able to give weapons status effects was good. But timing the trigger of the gunblade on every turn was annoying. Nice attempt at Super Mario RPG [awesome game] but with none of the replay value AFAIC. Who gives a crap about a Seed rank? HOW DARE YOU DEMOTE ME FOR EXPLORING THE GAME IN A NONLINEAR WAY
What really bothered me was you seemed to spend more time stocking spells and trying to track down weapon parts for the same old equipment rather than grinding and exploring dungeons, seeking out minibosses for rare drops and all the classic formula FF stuff.
FFIX combined elements of the excellent FFV jobs system although the classes were fixed...and the art style was much better suited than the realistic direction taken in VIII...and the rare item/equipment/skill hunt elements were restored.
But I still chuckle to myself at Seifer calling Zell "Chicken-wuss"

I looooved the GF/junction system in VIII because it was so different and added another fun element to the game for me, but I do still prefer the classic skill/level system used in IX. Plus the overall aesthetic in IX is fantastic, the story is good, and the characters are interesting, fun and totally not whiny like characters in VII and VIII kinda got sometimes.
In other news, I'm totally obsessed with Skyrim again. I haven't had much work to do recently so I've played like 35 hours in the past 2 weeks and have no intention of stopping any time soon. It's SO GOOD, and after enjoying this I'm kinda tempted to play through Morrowind after I get bored of Skyrim, although it's probably likely that once I get bored of Skyrim I won't want to play Morrowind anymore either.

Does anyone have experience with Forza Motorsports 4? I've been thinking of picking it up because I heard you can actually roam around in your cars

If you're playing on PC and want to try modding MW* (essentially custom-building your own version), I can help...
*edit - or any recent BethSoft RPG, for that matter

I think Forza Horizon is the one that allows you to roam around. I've not heard great things about that game from people who really dig the other Forza's, but I've never played it myself so I don't have anything factual to say about it.

The junction system was AWESOME, dudes. Junction Blind to yr attack and have higher chances of it actually working instead of wasting a turn casting it like a dork.
And if you did it right, you could break the game and become ludicrously powerful at like level 7.
Plus, dat school life. I was blown away after leaving Garden, the world was so huge. Like when you leave Midgar in FF7.

Agreed, I just hated the spelldraw system and that characters outside of your party wouldn't level up.

Guh. Yeah I read into Horizon a bit and it seems a little gimmicky. Although I do enjoy roaming around in cars haha
It's still pretty expensive. I might just finish Forza III first

Cheers! I have spent a loooooot of time modding Morrowind, I pretty much install it at least once every year, try out a bunch of mods, and then get bored when it comes to actually playing the game.

I think if I do get round to it I'll just put on whatever big graphics mod sounds the best, bugfixes and a couple of minor gameplay tweaks, just so I get round to playing the game instead of spending forever modding it a ridiculous amount.
Never found anything that makes combat less generally shitty though, any advice there? I'd be looking for something more like skyrim, because missing people due to low skill in morrowind is just kind of annoying when your weapon clearly went through that guy.

Finished Borderlands the other night, what a letdown. I killed the final boss in literally fifteen seconds.
WTF

Borderlands 1? I didn't understand the ending there until I was in BL2.

yah. with the Syren the last boss of Borderlands 1 was super easy. 2 is fucking awesome though.
i lovedededed 1, spent so much time on it. 2 is as fun with the loot but even funnier with the main antagonist.
