Holy crap, that sounds like the most hilarious job ever. I wonder if you have quotas to meet each quarter, or get a bonus if a certain percentage of these scumbags get to bang the girls

That job is probably more sleazy than a phone sex operator. Where do I apply?

It seems that Electric Wizard's "Weird Tales.." will be mandatory whilst writing profiles.

I also listened to that demo earlier Conky, and meant to tell you it sounds fucking killer. Like really terrific; goddamn, I wish our demos sounded that rad!

In regards to the suggestions, using a looper in my stereo rig was my first idea, but the biggest issue is syncing to it. Live looping is an unforgiving mistress who sleeps with her eyes open, and even our initial drummer couldn't hang with it well enough for me to feel comfortable continuing to try it. Our other guy understandable has trouble playing that rigid, but he also can't hear it. I suppose I'll have to do more research in that department, we've got a floor monitor laying around, it's just a matter of how to hook it up. Russian Circles is my jam. Helms Alee is pretty dope too.

I also didn't realize Conan was a one guitar deal, and mosdef need to suss out some more Primitive Man... Doesn't/didn't Yob have a second guitarist? Or was that purely a recent development?

I am loving all the suggestions, but seeing as this is *technically* for research purposes, throw everything you got at me! I'll glean all I can

I was more thinking of looping things that don't need to be in time with anything. That's what I do and would do in a band situation. Like if the chorus riff is in E or whatever start the song by strumming 16ths of that chord high up with a bunch of delay on and loop that and then later in the song turn that loop on for the chorus to add a layer of wash under the main riff.

Or loop a 5/4 of legato notes and let that play along at half volume under a 4/4 riff or two. Or loop a drone and riff over that, like old metal tunes where the bass just plays AAAAAA over and over while the guitar riffs out, except with another loop of guitar. When you leave the key to play another riff the drone can cause some cool tension.

Also I find that using a looper with dirt pedals often when you record a quieter loop and then stomp on a loud pedal it drowns out the looper anyway so you don't have to shut it off or turn it back on when a quiet part comes back. The loop will just get smothered by the fuzz and you won't hear it anyway.

Yob is just a three piece.

Also +1 to boy looping multiple guitar parts live. Too much to mess with. Fill up space with delay and reverb. Run a dual rig to fill out more of the freq spectrum. Play big chords. Plus you can have a beer before you play and not have to worry about looping!

I gave up on live looping when a second guitarist kinda fell into place. It's just so much easier to keep things live. This guys been nothing but solid and dependable though, so your mmv. Sometimes a machine could be better. :p
It's been killer to be able to do all those things and to expand on them beyond what is possible with having to alternate what you are doing to create a new loop. The new stuff we a writing would not be possible with a pedal.

Ben Verellen will sometime do what you were talking about with looping something that is not time dependent. I think it's important to consider how its going to sound out front. Nothing was doing a lot of noise loops at the Sleep show last weekend and out front it sounded like Ice pick shit. Not sure if that's how they intended it to be but it sucked.
There's a local guy who does a solo thing and tends to set his loops at a lower volume and then uses the vol pedal to bring what he is playing out front and then back again. He'll use this to set new loops without them being audible until he wants to blend them in and out. Pretty cool to see him work it and it sounded great.

I have one on the way also, as well as a Goodbye 24 that's been in regular rotation for about a year. Really cool circuit, and the Ct5 seems like a great upgrade.

The CT5 is absolutely awesome! I turn the thing on pretty much every time I pick up my bass.

From what I understand the GB24 is just the first mode of the CT5? Or is there a sound/quality difference? Also, is anyone using theirs as a straight up looper? Because I love my ditto but it's essentially useless to me in a band setting out of the reverse mode and I feel like something weirder that can still function as a regular loop might be more up my alley.

EDIT: Maybe I should just get a Headrush? Skip, yours always sounded awesome, how intuitive was the looper? Also does it do the sound on sound thing?
