SKIP...That's awesome news...those ingrown hairs can get painful and ugly fast, having ape-like characteristics myself, i have had my fair share of ingrown hair issues. Yes, they are gross, but usually quite harmless.
Yes, yes they can. This one formed in 3 days and got nasty real quick. And agreed, their gross and annoying as hell, but usually harmless and easily remedied.
skullservant wrote:DUDE I'm so glad that's all it is. They are gross, but like you said, it's a lot better than the alternative!
As am I my friend, and agreed.

im going to have Chris (deathmonkey on here or something like that) etch a bunch of stuff for the tourbox. Seems easier and they can be sold ipsofacto once the tourbox ends. Likely will limit the # of total people on the tourbox via lottery system

So it does not really matter if you put in E34Ls and or El34s. The real difference between those tubes is that they moved the average bias voltage to be more negative on the E34Ls requiring more negative bias to achieve the same average cathode current. So they have a bit more headroom before clipping.
For reference here is the datasheet for both from JJ

Gotcha, so they actually might be beneficial in my usage. For 27$ a pair, their not a bad option. I think when I take the VB-2 in I might as well take along my VL-1002 and have it repaired and have 6550's installed and biased (its got a switch on the back for el34 or 6550). That way I'll have 2 heads I can take on the road that I wouldn't shit absolute bricks if they got stolen.

thanks. I can finally end that long running thing. I will have to have strict rules on the next tourbox with limited people. Wish I could let it run but its dumb to have it go so long that people lose the motivation to even get it by the time they can use it/

I'm very curious to hear about the VB-2 diagnosis. I've been intrigued by that thing ever since you started singing its praises.
And congrats on the gross ingrown hair! I'd rather fight that than back problems any day of the week.

It's a common problem, a tube will pull too much current and blow the internal fuse. Biggest PITA is that you have to solder in a new fuse on the board. So I'm going to have mine modified to have a standard style fuse holder on the back in case it happens on the road. That way I can bring with me a set of fresh tubes and a box of fuses in case it blows.
HAHAHAHAHA Thanks?!?! agreed, its much better then i originally thought.

Will do, for 27$ a pair if tubedepot can match the sextet I might just go that route.
Also, whats the main difference between the regular and blue glass E34L's? the descriptions looked pretty much identical, so is it just cosmetic?
