That's pretty good. I have yet to wrap my head around the disdain for 'political correctness,' though, particularly when it comes from people who are very into the idea of voting with your feet -- which is, essentially, what political correctness is, no?
-Says assholeish thing in the name of free speech.
-is called an asshole.
-complains about the free speech used to call speaker an asshole.
Makes no sense to me.

Nah. I doubt anyone truly has disdain for being polite and cordial.
The disdain for PC (at least my own) is rejecting the element of coercion and intimidation used to suppress select disagreeable topics, language, imagery as being taboo because some people find them offensive. Someone other than the individual determines what is
obscene, therefore wrong; no offense becomes too petty for reprimand or punishment. Individuals who dislike one another for political reasons tend to seize every opportunity to give the other shit as there is
always some grievance. Always.
It's the cultish behavior of the *enlightened* who stake all claim to the moral high ground and try to save people from themselves... by self-righteous bullying from unelected positions of authority...or worse...within the existing institutions of the status quo.
(Kinda goes without saying

just because you can say something doesn't mean ya should. ...and def don't be surprised when some people hate it/you and have something to say about it/you.

)

as this can be applied to every 'moral' ever, I'm not sure this is actually any sort of deconstruction of the idea being PC, rather than "don't be a sanctimonious cunt." Which, obviously, is a good idea.
Idk it seems like people who are 'against political correctness' haven't evolved their thinking from the last Carlin skit, to me.

haha. No point made, just a jab cause thats all you can produce. People use unsubstantiated claims of racism, bigotry, etc. to quill another person's point of view or argument. It's not that the former necessary makes a counter argument to the latter's point, demonstrating how the former's argument is racist, they just say it is.
Watch one of those SJW cringe compilations on youtube.

You continually ignore what I actually say in substitution for what you would have preferred me to say. Or what you earnestly think I say. Not sure which is worse, tbqh, but both are annoying.
I have better things to do with my time than watch "SJW cringe compilations", but I am curious as to how you measure whether someone is
actually racist or bigoted?

@DoS Watch it buster, sometimes I think Carlin is my spirit animal

I do agree with ya; being a
sanctimonious cunt is primary factor in the scust.
The Pub on TGP is full of non-pc high horsemen. Stuffy, unpleasant, arrogant, obnoxious.
But are they trying to subvert every community and conversation with their narrow-minded ideas & values, bully mandates into existence?
"The idea of being moral" or "being PC" isn't the problem. "PC" has become an extreme ideological movement attractive to narcissists & sociopaths, eager to put strangers on the defense with convenient leverage & punish others for invented offenses. As well as a cheap performance ploy to raise one's own profile in the process. This is a consequence of social media's connectivity & the ever increasing struggle to get/maintain attention and distinguish oneself while belonging to something
righteous.
In 4Q 2014, Matt Taylor and shirtstorm, shirtgate w/e...his (unnecessary) apology video...was the moment I truly saw modern political correctness, the ideology for what it is.
A totalitarian cult of absolute collectivism, keen on destruction of anyone or anything disagreeable in its path.
Cunty sanctimony does make PC zealots insufferable... and their stuffy, unpleasant arrogance
is obnoxious yes... but most disgusting of all is how PCness is used as justification for cruelty, mistreatment of others who deviate from the approved narrative.

To the Pub: Well, yes, they are.
Agreed with the last two sentences in your second paragraph. Piling on is just bad behavior, regardless of the banner, and there are totally people who are looking to score cheap points without actually doing anything substantial. Sure. I'll agree with that one. Don't care about shirtgate: dude felt compelled to apologize for not thinking about what he was wearing, the same way I'd apologize if I accidentally wore my Whores shirt to a Mormon ministry full of reformed call girls. Sometimes it's good to own up to the fact that you may have unintentionally pissed someone off, even if you think they're making a pronoun-free mountain out of a pronoun-free molehill.
I don't see how the cruelty/mistreatment from the approved narrative is unique to 'being PC,' though. And that's sort of my point? Going back to the earlier example:
'rejecting the element of coercion and intimidation used to suppress select disagreeable topics, language, imagery as being taboo because some people find them offensive. Someone other than the individual determines what is obscene, therefore wrong; no offense becomes too petty for reprimand or punishment. Individuals who dislike one another for political reasons tend to seize every opportunity to give the other shit as there is always some grievance. Always.'
This is exactly the same line of reasoning that landed Burroughs in an obscenity trial, or had the majority of the country convinced AIDS was a gay problem, etc.

In no way am I claiming or trying to suggest [those] negative characteristics of political correctness are unique to it.
I hadn't even considered originality as a factor...it's really inconsequential to the point: a cult of totalitarianism.
Matt Taylor was smeared, harassed, bullied and coerced into apology. For wearing the wrong shirt which was ironically designed by a woman.
He looked like the captive in a terrorist group's propaganda video, because a handful of insecure sanctimonious cunts saw an opportunity to make an example of him and high five the hive mind.
Hey, I don't fault you for not caring...but some PC assholes saw fit to steal his thunder in LANDING A MECHANICAL DEVICE ON A COMET SPEEDING THROUGH SPACE and complain about the shirt he happened to be wearing while interviewed...and use it to characterize him as a sexist big bad. Fuck that.
