Nice that will give you a wicked combo!!!!!

BTW on regards of EL34's.... So I'm going to get a sextet of new JJ EL34's when I get the VB-2 fixed, looking online though they have EL34's and E34L's. The E34L's apparently have more low end and low mids (which would be awesome!), but they pull a higher plate voltage, so seeing that I all ready blew the internal fuse do you think that could be detrimental and I should just stick to EL34's, or would I be okay as long as its biased correctly with the E34L's?

as far as I know all El34s are rated for 800V plate. Its rarely the plate voltage that kills a tube, its usually the screen current. So it does not really matter if you put in E34Ls and or El34s. The real difference between those tubes is that they moved the average bias voltage to be more negative on the E34Ls requiring more negative bias to achieve the same average cathode current. So they have a bit more headroom before clipping.

For reference here is the datasheet for both from JJ

Is the Monolith what you're going to call the amp?

As far as the slaving question, I was wondering whether it's worth it slaving a low wattage amp like a Marshall JMP1 or Matamp Mini-Rock when you have to make sure both amps have a load. Say for instance I bought an old Marshall JCM800 Bass Series and used it as a clean slave head, and then I used my Dunwich combo or Fryette as a preamp, could I have a stereo rig with a true 'FX loop' between the Marshall and Dunwich/Fryette? Seeing as those two amps are combos they'll already have a load, so I'll only need to use one other cabinet, which is something I have.

Also, could I use the Matamp Mini-Rock with its poweramp out and slave that into the Marshall? That way I could have poweramp distortion at whatever volume.

Doom Room - type fast, riff slow

all the amps need a load. you can use a dummy load on the marshall if you want to avoid any noise but you will need a 200W+ dummy load to avoid blowing it out. You could mute the power amp in the marshall. As far as I know tho that amp does not have a slave in or out.

The other issue to be concerned with is ground looping when connecting multiple heads. If you have 1 cab you will need to make sure that the slaved out head is dummy loaded so that it doesnt blow. I cant remember but did you want a FX loop on the amp you wanted from me?

You can use a post-OT slave out if you want similar to Skips on the naki. Of course phase issues are abound but you can correct that pretty easily.

A Boss tuner.

If you run with this please make sure that your two drummers are doing stuff that actually requires two dudes. I saw that band Kylesa one time. I know they're a fave around here but man I thought their two drummer schtick was weak. Like Lombardo could just slap 'em both across the mouth and then do that shit with one hand tied behind his back. I about fell over when one of the guitar players (the dude I think) stopped what he was doing to get into beating some conga or whatever along with the other two. Gimmicky.

So from reading like 18 pages here's what I remember well enough to feel like I should comment.

Skip was pretty fucking cool about wayward bass player dude not getting his gear handled and then mounting the stage/interrupting. If any of our readership here does not yet play out but plans to in the future, please listen up to the most important thing you could ever learn: GET YOUR SHIT OFF THE STAGE. Because it really doesn't matter how good you sound, how good you play, what hipass style you play, who you know at the bar, whether or not you're friends with (insert kingly and magnanimous famous rocker name here) or any of that stuff that people on the outside looking in might concern themselves with. If you can't get your shit out of the way quickly the band(s?) after you will only want to talk about how dumb and unprofessional you are. Not a good way to get your foot in the door with real life, tires on the ground networking.

Also I have played of couple of these Supercolliders of which you speak. It's a Big Muff alright!

I saw Red Fang the other night and they are absolutely on top of their game. I felt they were a little off that one time they had to go on after Black Breath, but hey. That's fuckin Black Breath and they should be last. But yeah it was at the same venue and everything and Red Fang was smokin hot. I've also mentioned that while I think they sound great I never can get deeply in to the individual tones. That was not a problem Saturday! I don't know what it was. Maybe they were using different cabs? It was still just the Sunn Betas for amps.

Now I will spam a couple of sweet posters on you guys!

Contemplating trying to get this v4 up and running again. $200 seem like a good deal for a v4 that isn't in running order?

Well what kind of not running order. If it needs a cap job your going to dump another easy 100+ dollars into it. Add on tubes, and other TLC and your talking about maybe 200 dollars in work.

I wont know what the issue is until it is looked at by a tech. It powers on, just no signal is passed.

i would pass. Not worth the effort. You can score good working ones for 300 bucks. Save your money and buy a better amp or just save. Cycling through shitty amps its not worth the time

I wish they went for $300 here. I never see them under 500-600. And that is rare to see them that cheap. I may just have it looked at to see what is up. See what it'll take to fix it and then weight that against what he wants and shoto him a lower offer if the amp is fixable.

well whatever it needs I would subtract that down super fast. nice sounding amp but loaded with gremlins. Loves to break down all the time. Risky to waste time and money with it
