my biological father ('Ole Sperm Donor we call him. sorta a DOUCHE) grew up on a farm about a mile from the closest family, about 5 miles from the closest family with kids his age. he got about 90% of his vocabulary from reading. so when he'd have an actual conversation with an actual human he'd know the word he wanted, start to use it, realize he never spoke it aloud, and mispronounce it. then pause, sound it out syllabically, and try it again.

i do the same thing, but i have no distance excuse. i grew up like, 12 feet from other humans. i'm just a shy ass shut in.
