I completely disagree. There's bigger shows with kids in fidel hats dropping hard f bombs and pretty white boys rationalising their latest bout of being a sex creep with 'emo' songs, but there's also smaller shows that are largely by, and for, femmes, weirdos, freaks and queers. They can be cliquey and exclusive, hell yeah, but when you're trying to make a space for people who don't have one sometimes you have to be. They're not perfect and full of hypocrites, but as a weirdo freak queer in highschool those shows with ten or fifteen people at them were the only place I felt I could be myself.

Oh man fidel hats, you remember that DOS?

Indeed. fidel hat, plain white T-Shirt, flask of nonalcholic beverage with Sharpie'd Xes and some very nice shoes talking about veganism. Basically the show ruiners of my youth.

Also the bean boots phenomenon is utterly bizarre to me, given where I live and all. Fashion eludes me (even though I'll defend my pair to the death).

sounds like your town was just full of toys ;)

(a flask?! WTF happened to the Nalgene water bottle covered in stickers?)

Also I still wear a camo fidel hat sometimes because I'm old and balding.

Confession: I had an IRON LUNG Nalgene that I used to take to the gym back when I cared about not dying

just bought a nalgene the other day for work. Should probably save that Despise You sticker I have sitting around for when I get a new car or bass.

Colour me guilty of the Lloyd Dobbler look. I wore a Vietnam military medic's jacket until it literally disintegrated.

I'm not home right now but you just wait until I post a picture of my Taylor.

Everybody's all like, "WHY DID YOU COVER THAT BEAUTIFUL GUITAR IN STICKERS?!"

And a sick part of my soul is euphoric, every time.

oh I'm down with stickers, just not necessarily offensive ones in a corporate environment.

Just another example of the man trying to keep us down.

Hot damn, you guys catch this Whirr vs. G.L.O.S.S. drama on Twitter?

TL;DR, Whirr are major-league assholes (not just a mediocre shoegaze band).

Every time I think of weak ass internet band bullshit, Whirr comes to mind. They are a giant lambgoat commentor parody.

On another note, True Love is a badass band.
