"Bonjour Hi" is very common, as it lets the person being addressed know that a bilingual person is speaking, and that they can respond in either French or English. For example, say you're in a store, a clerk might come up to you and say, "Bonjour Hi," and then you can say either "Bonjour" or "Hi" back.
I'm extremely jealous of Montrealers... they're mostly fluently bilingual, and despite the prevalence of poutine, also incredibly physically attractive. They're just pretty people, man! I don't even mean that in a creeper way. Purely empirical respect for it. Me, I was raised in New Brunswick. Despite it being Canada's only officially bilingual province, my French education consisted of a few nouns and adjectives, and as for physical attractiveness... well, it's the fattest province, statistically speaking. I don't really deviate from the mean that much.
If you do go, make sure to hit up Moog Audio on St. Laurent. Great pedal store... incredible selection and occasionally some really great deals. And Cheap Thrills Records on Metcalfe. Multiple shelves of used black metal next to multiple shelves of old Carl Jung paperbacks. And finally, Restaurant Beijing in Chinatown. The Hot & Sour Soup alone is amazing...

Awesome, thanks guys. I come here to talk bands, and get a crash course in Montreal culture. I'm excited to go.

In the words of your country's greatest poet, "I am large. I contain multitudes."
After all the restaurants, the "large" part is not figurative.

Actually I believe that quote, given the attribution, should be "She got a big booty so I call her Big Booty."

No, seriously, Montreal has over 5,000 restos. Only NYC tops that number in North America. Food is no small part of the appeal. Bagels are a big deal. Smoked salmon is a big deal. Smoked meat is a big deal. Poutine is a big deal.

Hey D.o.S., in Portland I like those little Thai places that all have the same owner. I think one is called POM...? The crispy duck soup is real nice.

Chelsea Wolfe and Dylan Carson are playing on the same god damn night in May ugh I wish they just would play together. I would probably have a better chance of seeing Chelsea in the future compared to Dylan but ive been wanting to see her live for years. UGHH.

Is it just Dylan or is it Earth...? If only the former it's possible you'd be going to see and possibly meet Dylan Carlson, which would be awesome... but you'd probably enjoy the Chelsea show on a more visceral level. My vote's for Chelsea.

Carson's solo stuff is a fucking snoozefest (so is Earth, though).
Why don't you listen to good bands instead?

Well, there you go. If D.o.S. and I say the same thing, it must be in your stars.

I'm not advocating for him to go see CW I'm advocating for him to look for good bands instead.
