Hey k o y l,
You don't feel like donating your guitar to a needy cause (i.e. me), do you?! ;)

That is f-a-n-tastic. It has a great tone too. Almost a kind of modern-day resonator guitar maybe.

What is the ball park cost of a Loïc Le Pape guitar? What do I need to sell to get one - a pedal, my guitar, my car, my soul to the devil...?
ILF pedals: DE Eye of God, Mellowtone Wolf Computer, Mellowtone Singing Tree LE, Fuzzhugger Arc Flash Oscillator, DSc Miniberator, Mysterious J boost/cut/tremolo pedal

A pedal will be a little short I think ... :erm:
...and you soul is a little bit too much... I guess it all depends on what guitar and car you have.. :p

Here are the average prices (if I remember well):
A tele should cost 1390 Euros ($1850), I think Les Paul Jr/special costs 1290 Euros ($1710) and other guitars such as Les Pauls, Jazzmasters cost 1690 Euros ($2240), Gretsch's cost more, not that lot more but I'm really not sure so I prefer not to tell.
I think those are pretty reasonable prices considering they're handmade according to what you want, with only Hi quality parts (Fender or Warmoth necks, CTS pots, Orange drop caps and so on..) and handwound pickups.

I'll PM you his mail address so you'll be able to ask for a price or any other question.

Great prices for sure. so let me get this right...the bodies are handmade but he uses aftermarket necks?
that's not a problem for me at all...i just want to get it straight.
i would just like to have a body and i can do the rest myself...i wonder if that would be a possibility?

yea...Trussart's are too expensive for me. they're nice but they also seem to vary quite a bit too. i've played some that are fantastic...and lots that are very not fantastic.

anyway.....i'm going have to check out Mr. Le Pape.

and on that note....here's my resonator cigar box made by Kurt Schoen. using a hubcap for the resonator and an old cigarbox from the around the 40's...mine is the first one with a pick-up...as i don't play acoustic guitars. i went with only 4 strings.

the thing sounds like nature throwing up...or in the hands of someone else...quite old timey.

What does that sound like through various modern effects, fuzzes and delays the like? I think I've only ever heard resonator cigarbox guitars (played with slide) through overdrive, some reverb, and a tube amp.

....i play it with a slide (i'm really into slide guitar) through tube amps and a small army of hateful effects...that's what i meant by "nature throwing up"... it's on the wild side of tones. if backed off and just played in a normal manner it's very old timey sounding. i'm going to have a couple more made eventually (hopefully later this year)...an 8 string (4's doubled) and a six string. i really dig using traditional things in a very non traditional way.

It depends of what you put in "aftermarket".. I mean he'll never use Eden necks or other indonesian/chinese made stuffs. And the pickups are usually custom made.
I doubt he would be able to build a body and ship it to you because there are lot of things to tune on a guitar and I think he works a lot for the parts to fit and make a great sounding and reliable guitar BUT what is certainly possible is to provide the other parts, ship them to him so he'll build the guitar around them and ship the whole guitar ready to play back to you and you will only pay for the body. That's actually what I did: I was building a Jazzmaster from parts and was too broke to buy a whole guitar from him so he used the parts of the project to build this one... otherwise it wouldn't have been financially possible for me.

Yeah I head that often.. I think the 1st Trussarts were handmade as well with very hi quality steel and parts but now he can't do that anymore and the guitars are more or less factory made, maybe with steel easier to deal with in a factory..

Wow it looks very cool and I bet you're making cool stuff with it as well: I can only imagine how it sounds played with a slide and crazy pedals ! Any tracks to listen online ??
And is the resonator amplified as well ?

Btw, here are the pics of the steelmaster with the new picups:

Those pickups sound awesome ! Exactly like I expected... :bob:
I'm preparing some demos but I think I'll create a thread to post them and stop polluting this thread.. :erm:

Kind of reminds me of a way cleaner/useable version of ZZ top's scrap metal guitars in the rock and roll hall of fame.

I love the lo-fi effect, I think it sounds great. I don't really know how the 202 sounds so I couldn't really say much in those terms. :idk:
