I do find it interesting that mainstream press like Rolling Stone and NPR are paying attention to this kind of music. Having known Mike and the various incarnations of Yob since the beginning, it's strange to see them receive the accolades that they're currently getting. It's well deserved. I'm sure it's strange for anyone into this stuff that we're all into. I know how strange it is for Mike.
I don't mean to sound ungrateful or facetious. A lot of bands put out records this last year and frankly, a lot of bands worked a lot harder than Indian did this last year. I've been listening to underground music since 1990. Never had a Rolling Stone subscription. Never really read any of it except for Hunter S. Thompson's stuff from the '70s. I understand how big they are but they've just never been on my radar.
It's been a strange few years recently for this stuff we all do.
