I am actually considering a peavy, randall, sunn or acoustic solid state bass amp as the next step in my rig build.
I'm going to be half of a two piece so I figure I can maximise on amps.
I've owned a few peavy things now and always ask myself "why?" when I flip them for other shit.
Just dropped the AOR off at Tym's and they reckon there's a fair chance I can get out for sub $100, which would be fucking radballs.
Even if it's more I don't care. Having an amp with a clean bill of health would be enough for me. Although, busted trannies may be where I draw the line.
Don't think that's gonna be an issue though.

thirded on the peavey. Not indestructable, nothing is, but massively overengineered for reliability. When The 400 got plugged into WAY to low rated of a cab (was letting a band borrow it as thier head had beer spilled all over it during our set) It killed the cab, and then blew fuses. Main as well as two inside. this thing had a fuse for the fucking fuse. all the fuses protected the important shit and it was a few bucks to replace as opposed to whatever it would cost, if even possible to replace a tranny on it. Thanks guy that designed that. The butcher I have is also way to sturdy. the head shell weighs as much as the actual amp. Peavey would typically make stuff to run under spec. tubes biased cold, shit like that. so some simple mods and you have a firebreather, but they sound good as is and will last forever if used as designed.
