this is what we were thinkin of goin towards neon
whats the downside?
john actually had the idea
of us going through the same delay

I personally can't find any cons, once you give it a proper setup. If your guy gets the Squier I would go with the .102 circle K strings. The stock ones work but the low E is super floppy and the rest feel more like heavy guitar strings. The .102 set brought it back to bass territory for me. You'll also have to flip the bridge around or invest in a staytrem to get it to intonate properly.
Apart from that, the only issue I've had is guitar players worried that I'm stepping on their toes getting up into guitar territory.
But if you get a looper you can either loop basslines or textural deep guitar parts and play over them. It does great with fuzz.
Really, the problem isn't the instrument for me. The problem is the closed-mindedness prevalent in our music scene around here.
I did some thinking last night and I'm just gonna stick to my guns with my playing style and if I can't find a guitar player who can hang, then fuck it and just be a duo. I can do some vocals, and I'll feel better about doing them through some washed out creepy reverb. I'm gonna make it happen.

Heck yea man. Go for it. Sakevi is my favorite vocalist and he just yelled and talked through tape delays and effects. Plus, Mike Patton.

For guitar I could mention quite some things but for bass / Bass VI I don't know exactly.

Yeah, me too. I wanna feel my organs vibrating.

(Also, how the fuck do you move an 84" gong around?)

TWSS
I wanna feel a B3+122 vibrating

Also my wallet needs to expand about $900 more to get a sleeper big boy mixer.
Anyone wanna pilfer from my elite vintage preamp tube stash and help a fella out in the process?
I got da good glass, believe dat.

Ah man, so cool.
I dunno, you'd need a big van.
Plus I'd hate to think of the postage/delivery on that fucker.
I was looking at smaller planetary gongs and the meinl 24" Venus has me entranced.
Pair that up with some crystal singing bowls and some temple bells (id say bonsho, but that would be ridiculous) and I'd be a real happy camper.
Also I just found out that I tune my guitar to the third eye chakra (apparently). No wonder I like A so much.

Excellent use of TWSS, rusty.
Will you be posting said tubes in BST?
I have lots of interest but not a lot of cash.

neonblack wrote:So I've been struggling with gear indecision lately. Since I bought the bass VI I've been playing it more like a guitar, but I can't seem to get past the noodling stage and actually write some riffs. I've been playing with delay and verb a lot more lately, but again, no solid riffs.
I've been considering doing away with the delay and moving towards a more synth/fuzz centric board with no time based effects. Dirt, octave, pitch shifting, and some modulation. I might keep a verb on board for some atmospheric stuff.
Of course, this is all still in the brainstorming phase. I write really precise driving noisy aggressive stuff and I've been wanting to get a little gazey with it, but I'm finding it difficult to use delay and verb effectively with bass/VI.
HOW DO I SHOEGAZE?
I've hit a very similar wall, but just on regular guitar. As might playing has moved less normal punk, more noisey, spacey, and interesting (as I see it), getting thing going musically has become harder. I used to have nonstop jams with people, now it's far fewer. It's confusing because I think the tunes I'm coming up with are a lot better than the old ones. I think I am ditching delay for now. It just seems to force me to write slow stuff, and no one else seems to enjoy it.

All I'm gasing for lately is a drummer and bass player to play my songs with. Neonblack, you should burn all bridges and move to Norway.
