This is sadness for me. They played here across the street from me yesterday while I was still on my way back home from Munich.

But, alas, I shall observe Hauschka and SUNN O)))) on Sunday. I guess that makes up for my loss...

:thumb: kick ass, wish I'd get another opportunity to see SUNN O)))) I missed them five or six years ago and it still kinda burns - even if the reason was as good as kickstarting own studio sessions.

I know this probably goes in the Music forum, but fuck it.

I've just been introduced to Tera Melos's albums in the last 24 hours. Holy fuck. I blame all of you for not introducing me sooner.

Ha! Rad. My friend Roy and this one band I know are playing with them pretty soon. Their current drummer is from here.

bro time

yeah, i've known Dan since i was 16 years old, and we played a lot of music together. we were out of touch for years until i had dreams about him cycling through my old neighborhood in Chicago every night for two weeks running and decided something was telling my subconscious that i should get in touch with him. it turned that he was fixing to move to Miami in a couple of months and if i hadn't gotten ahold of him then i might never have found him. it also turned out that he lived in my old neighborhood and cycled daily. :erm: and we got along like i'd never left when i went to Chicago to visit him...it was utterly delightful.

and he also needs somebody to lean on now...moving to Miami wasn't good for him. it cut him off from the whole support system he had at home in Chicago, and didn't help his alcoholic tendencies. he really needs to get out of there and have something to work on; he spent several years caring for his dying mom, and since then has been living meagerly on the investments from his Mom's will and the sale of her house, and thus really doesn't have anything to do in life than wait until 5PM to arrive so he can start drinking. so him coming out here and playing bass with me would be a really good thing for him, too. God knows we both need the company.

Sorry man. For real though: does this changing the name and everything have any connection to your quitting?

no. I was the one who wanted to change it. I hated our name. The drummer was always a huge asshole to me and him and the bass player kept making fun of one of my friends. we also had some very different views on song writing. they always tried to write very complicated bass and drum parts when I just wanted it to be pretty simple. they also always hated it when I messed around with my pedals and got mad when I tried to create a sound I had in my head. all of that lead up to me quitting. then yesterday the drummer fucked with me and my friend for the last time, so I just politely said I was going to come pick up my stuff from the bassists house and I was quitting. We don't have and shows and they never recorded so I seemed no harm in doing so.

life is too short to play music with assholes, unless they're world-class musicians. and even then, they better pay the fuck out of you. why play with someone who doesn't even respect you?
