The HEX Giant Killer is a gnarly ported 1x12 cab that he'll usually put super efficient high wattage speakers in. I think he has a vintage EV in his own. A dude I know got one with a Celestion Sidewinder. I've considered getting one with an Eminence Swamp Thang or Tonker, since they're 150w handling and 103db sensitivity. He quoted me roughly $400. They're a small operation so I'm not sure if that's a buddy deal or if they have much room to discount.
With the right speaker, it's a 1x12 the size and sound of a 2x12.
He uses a ton of gear with Eagle Twin obviously. But I recorded a couple Form Of Rocket sets where Gentry played his prototype Model T clone through just one GK. Peter used a Twin Reverb combo with an extension Hex 2x12. Curtis used an Aims head with that Hex 2x15 and Ben had a Sunn 300T into that Hex Fat810. The GK kept up.

Good info, thanks Sam!
I'm thinking of selling my 3/4 back mesa 2x12, getting two giant killers, and stacking them vertically.
Edit: What's the best way to contact Gentry for a quote? FB?
Yeah he's on FB. Shoot him or the HEX Cabs page a message, he's good about getting back to ya.
Here's one of the videos I was talking about.

I,Galactus wrote:Nice vid! Is the giant killer running guitar or bass? (i'm considering re-building a guitar rig, btw)
It's a guitar cab. I mean, I'm sure you could put a bass speaker in there. But Gentry is playing a baritone into a HEX Model T clone into a single Giant Killer and that's it in the video.

I,Galactus wrote:can somebody tell me what's up with that hex giant killer 1x12" cab?

I'm a ways off from having new cab money, but find myself mighty intrigued. I'd e-mail Mr. Gentry myself, but I hate asking for quotes when I don't have cash on hand.
That's My Cab! hahaha.

I'm the dude with the sidewinder GK. I actually contacted them solely based on 1)the gear porn Sam posts from them and 2) I love me some eagle twin.
It is without a doubt the loudest cab I have ever played or seen. I ABY one amp into an emperor 4x12, and one amp into just the giant killer. It is Ear-splittingly, face-meltingly loud. My 4x12s are 4 ft tall, and when the giant killer sits on top of it, it is just about right at my face height. Jesus. I love it.
Also, the 400 dollar quote is just about what I paid, If you get speakers that he doesn;t have on hand, he has to special order and those costs get added. Gentry was awesome to deal with. I highly recommend.

He just got a second 121 and couldn't be more stoked. A few days ago we were screwing around with running pink noise through an amp setup with dual 121's on the Orange 2x12 with Vintage 30's just to get them as in phase as possible. Flipping the phase switch on the preamp to hear what frequencies it was missing was just about as dead silent as I've ever heard.

If any of you ever wanna come to SLC and record, Wes is your dude.

...So i am. Thats a little creepy
- Edit, to give you an idea, That cab has the full potential to be louder than my entire band. At practice, I've run just that against a 5150 through a 4x12, and an orange thunderverb 200 through a 4x12 and still kept up .

http://www.facebook.com/hex.cabs/infoWith eagle twin on tour, I don;t know how quickly they can respond, since the two guys that do hex cabs are both, well, eagle twin.
