OK Engineers, how about you design a part with materials that people can actually buy:
Every day i have something that got designed into a part that doesn't exist.

I used to love this in my last job, in which i laid out and updated datasheets for various semiconductor products. i was constantly revising them to indicate different results based on one wafer's worth of test production to try and sell product, so we had multiple iterations of parts that didn't actually exist. i really hope i can get into a different industry...i hate the electronics industry. so much vaporware and ego and bullshit and trying to translate shit from ESL Chinoise into comprehensible technical English.

I do to, plus we make things from customer drawings so we are at the mercy of engineers that have never actually built a part.
A 2 Inch core and .05 Diameter wire and the max dimension for the wound coil is 1.8???
Every day

and then they complain when you point it out because you're holding things up. it's almost enough to make unemployment and incipient foreclosure seem nice.

For my graphic design job I get things like that all the time.
"Can you put this image on the button? But without decreasing the size of the image or increasing the size of the button."
"... No I can't."
"Why?"
"Because the image is twice as big as the button."
"Well just mess around with it in photoshop and see if you can get it to work."
"........."
"Can you make this background green?"
"Well... it is green."
"No, but like... green."
"I don't know what you mean. It's green already. In fact it is the exact green that you specified initially."
"Well, we would just like it to be green."
I had to leave the office because I started laughing at this point and couldn't stop.
But the all time winner...
"Can you add some Ugandans to this photo?"
"Ugandans?"
"Yes. Like from Uganda?"
"Well... do you have some photos or something?"
"No, but just use photoshop."
"There isn't like a Ugandan filter..."
"Well we have some black and white photos but we want them to be in color." (They send them to me - they have all the resolution of a childs crayon drawing)
"These aren't really usable."
"I'm sure you can figure it out in photoshop."
"......"
Alright people, listen, photoshop does not have magical powers.
