Re: Pretty Years
messing around with strange tales and his modular rig.
he built the patch and i just twisted knobs on PY

bass sounds overview. not my best work on a demo but i think it's fine... i'm going to include a proper paper manual as well with the pedal so everyone can get more detailed info. to address what i view as the one quirk - the "liftoff sound" is really only noticeable if you turn on the pedal and it's completely quiet in the room or you switch it on while not playing - it's the microphonics in the tubes and i'm going to try a few more things to get it down a little more since right now the tubes are just floating in the enclosure and i think probably as loud as they would possibly be - they'll have some rubber insulation and will secured down which will help. in any case, a true bypass looper will *easily* take care of the "issue". before you ask, i did try a relay to no avail (clicking sounds were introduced) but i have one more option to try out tonight so we'll see. personally, i think it's ok - i wouldn't release the pedal otherwise.

Pffffffftt true bypass filter. Leave the noise I say! Who cares!!!

It sounds great on bass dude! You're using a passive bass right?
Oh and will you include sample settings?

Re: Pretty Years
Dudes, the pedal is fucking bonkers. Even it's limitations are pretty bonkers and only adds to it. Video doesn't show the kitty meows or chicken quacks you can get out of it.
JUST BONKERS.

passive yeah - it has a pretty hot output and is fairly bright overall.jwar wrote:Pffffffftt true bypass filter. Leave the noise I say! Who cares!!!

as for the liftoff noise - yeah it's not *too* bad and like i said, the way it sounds right now is the *worst* that it will sound. the damping and securing will tone it down a bit though i'm sure it will still be there somewhat. it's no big deal and can definitely sound kind of rad as it's own thing...

here's another clippy showing the compression-like low bias setting. you can get neat volume swells. i had it set so the wurlitzer would feed back on it's own - pretty awesome.

Re: Pretty Years
Reverb automatically charging my paypal account made it so I'd have to wait another month to close it, so I went ahead and payed for the Pretty Years through it.
I'm excited!
I wish it wasn't such a pain in the ass to close a stupid paypal account.

ok yall - invoices are headed out. for most US folks the shipping is actually a little lower than i expected but very slightly higher if you're on the west coast - i used the online calculator for the different zones rather than just finding the mean price. EU/UK were ever so slightly higher and unfortunately canadian shipping was a bit more than i expected.
right on. i guess that worked out? sucks though.Inconuucl wrote:Reverb automatically charging my paypal account made it so I'd have to wait another month to close it, so I went ahead and payed for the Pretty Years through it.I'm excited!
